OK So, just for a bit of fun, there are lots of transfer rumours as it's that time of the year. Lots of views from us as to who is better than who etc. But, it's all part of a package and a budget. So what if you were given a 60mill transfer kitty for the team this summer? Out of the rumoured players and their rumoured prices who would you get? I'd say we all generally agree we need a ST, LW (Wilf replacement) CM ad RB So for me I'd go: Gallagher 35mill would be a line up of....

First of all you would not get Gallagher for 35 million. Chelsea will want more than that! I would get Ramos on a free to play right back and Messi on a free to play up front. The 60 million can pay the signing on fees and wages.

Transfer talk is that Chelsea are putting a 40mill price tag on him as needing to sell to meet FFP and to pay for more incomings. Edited by Mwncisee (05 Jun 2023 4.38pm)

Does anyone remember the Richard Pryor film 'Brewsters Millions' in which he had 30 days to spend £30m in order to inherit £300? The comedy came from how hard it actually was to spend a load of money. I'd imagine if Palace had £60m to spend on transfer fees (so let's call it £100-£150m once wages and agents fees are added) it might actually be pretty hard to spend it. Once in a blue moon, you can get an Olise for £10m-£15m. Mostly though, for that money you get solid squad players like Hughes, Tomkins, Kouate, Ayew etc. If we bought four or five of them we would probably not have a stronger team, only a bloated squad. That makes me think I'd spend the £60m on one or two top players to make a notable difference to the starting XI, rather than spreading the money too thinly. I'd think Gallagher's fee is north of £40m, but that's not the point. Whether its him or someone else, I think we could find a player or two worth £60m that would noticeably improve our side, but that's not the point either. Newcastle bought Isak for around £60m - he'd have been brilliant for us, exactly what we need. The year before they got Bruno Guimaraes for about £40m and Trippier for about £20m. Again, both players would have significantly improved our team. I'm sure the former clubs for all three players would have taken our money as quickly as they took Newcastle's but that, also, is not the point. The point is that top players worth big money probably don't want to sign for us. In order to improve our side you have to be good enough to play in high-level European competition, and if you are that good then you will want to go to clubs that can offer it. That's the Brewsters Millions aspect of our position - even if we had the money we might actually struggle to spend it!

Max Aarons £10m (a good upgrade to Ward and Clyne) Ismaila Sarr £30m (can play as a winger and striker could be the player to get Palace 13 or more EPL goals a season consistently and with Zaha, Eze and Olise he would find a lot of goal opportunities. Gyokeres is also a good option. Jack Clarke £20m (good young player has a bright future) Jefferson Lerma free (good free transfer can play anywhere in midfield could be a perfect partner for Doucoure to allow Palace to play 4-2-3-1 which could allow all Eze, Olise, Sarr and Zaha to be in the XI if Zaha stays.
Subs: Guaita, Adaramola, Ward, Richards, Ozoh, Schlupp, Ayew, Clarke, Edouard. Hopefully we see Ozoh and Adaramola play more they can break into the first team. Edited by Zaha127 (05 Jun 2023 7.25pm)

Edited by Mwncisee (05 Jun 2023 4.38pm) Chelsea fans would be delighted to see them get that much for him. They constantly refer to him as a headless chicken. He played the equivalent of around 18 full games in terms of minutes and picked up 10 bookings!

Quite frankly, it's time to move on from Gallagher and find someone who can complement both Doucoure and Eze.

I appreciate they might not all want to come to us or be available, but this is a fantasy so... Tierney - £25 million

I think RB and ST are the worst position. Palace do not have a striker that scores 13 or more EPL goals. If they did have a clinical striker and kept Wilf Palace would be scoring for fun most games. And RB the position never got fixed since AWB left. Clyne and Ward are good bench options but if you want to be an established top 10 side you need a new RB. Would take Aarons or Boey both would be an upgrade to Ward and Clyne. Regarding LB I think there is cover Schlupp can play LB at times and you also got Adaramola I would also promote him to the first team and he could really compete with Mitchell for the LB spot.
