I dont think Mateta can decide to leave if their is no decent offer on the table, i wish it was Edouard

The spelling thus far has been shocking however with no animosity, I’d welcome any fee for JPM.

I think he’s an ok player but below what we need and that we should be striving for. I’ve said it before and will say again that I view both JPM and Edouard as sort of ‘half a striker’. They both have some strengths but an equal number of weaknesses. I’d quite happily get some cash for both, or just for one, and go for our 100%, first pick striker.

Either can play as a reserve/backup to that first choice striker but having two of them a bit pointless. It’s like they’ve taken turns in not being good enough to start to allow the other a run out. Buying two half effective strikers doesn’t equate to one effective centre forward, in fact it quite often equals none.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Eduoard has the ability, but poor attitude.
Mateta has a decent attitude, but little to no ability.

Doh.

Ability to do what? He can't make runs, can't score, can't hold the ball up, can't pass. He handed the ball to Forest today to give them their first goal. Then later, he missed an easy header for a goal. He was so bad that Roy subbed him out for Mateta after 60 minutes.

Mateta seems to have a loveable personality like a puppy (and the ball control of one), but he has not shown that he has the ability of a PL striker. The way we play right now we need a number 9 who can link up play the way Firminho did at Liverpool in his prime and who has the instinct to capitalise on the chances Olise and Eze create. Neither Edouard nor Mateta have shown they are capable of that. Personally I'd try and move them both on.

Frustrating is not the word and to think that I cried when Eduoard scored twice in his first appearance believing that we'd actually found someone with the ability of Murray ..but we are sadly a club that has to make a gamble in this league.

I do think there's a player in Mateta. Unlikely to be here, but he could do a Sorloth and get a fair few goals elsewhere if he's left alone to get game time and find his rhythm. For every open goal miss against Liverpool, there's the well taken finishes against Brighton and Leicester.

Striker is the one position that pretty much 75% of the league can't get right. There's only 8 out and out strikers that got 12 goals or more in the league this year: Haaland, Kane, Toney, Wilson, Rashford, Watkins, Mitrovic, Rodrigo.

Me too!

I struggle to think of a lazier player to have worn a palace shirt!
Doesn’t show any desire and is unable to manage two yard passes.
Mateta may be limited but at least he puts in effort and looks like he wants to be here and do well.

I am of the opinion that Mateta's contract extends to June 26.

JPM - He has little in game intelligence.

He doesn’t anticipate where the ball is going to be
He doesn’t close players down quickly enough
He is a slow thinker - on the back foot mentally
He doesn’t create space or opportunities

Needs to go - overstayed his welcome

OE

Trots around (languid style) doesn’t do enough
Life is both easy and comfortable for defenders
Disappointed in his time here - expected better

Needs to go - proved he is not the answer
