If that gopher could talk.

No, but to be serious...and innocent before anything proven as a standard he and anyone deserves.....it wouldn't surprise me.

If you can lie to a wife for over twenty years then perhaps lies are a feature and not a bug.

A great pity. I thought he was terrific in A Man For All Seasons.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

So he was in his fifties even if the young man was of age (teenager) I think that still lies in the arena of inappropriate behaviour not to mention the power in balance boss vs office junior.

Nice one Phil oh and I don't believe that ITV knew nothing about this.

I would call it inappropriate and unprofessional, though it's not illegal and so it ends there....but yeah, not good and not compatible with the 'nice guy' image he presented. Reminds me of the Bill Wyman thing.

What really did for him was the lying.....I remember years and years ago, remembering how he casually said that he had lied on his application when applying for a job at the BBC....it was just a joke to him. I picked up on that because how a person treats lying is a fundamental to their character.

His ‘coming out’ was around the same time the Pope announced his Catholicism.

I don’t struggle to believe any speculative, albeit coherent, suggestions of anything more sinister.

The whole thing already feels like mitigation of the truth around all this. How many others would instantly be accused of grooming? His seemingly harmless persona could be well crafted and there’s a smugness there that can be associated with many individuals who’ve committed nefarious crimes.

An odd anecdote but I had an old school teacher, married Chelsea fan, who turned out to bat for the other side and hooked up with a boy in the sixth form of another school he was working at. He did this via a dating app, where he did not hide his identity, and to me it very much came across as incredibly stupid but potentially not ‘criminal’. Got a few years inside from media reports. That felt ‘less dodgy’ than everything going on with ‘ol Phil.

Could very well be because of whatever personal motivations as I have as never liked him and always had a hard to articulate, niggling feeling there.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Schofield hitting the "self-destruct button" to his career, else with new revelations pending is attempting damage-limitation.

Either way, I see Schofield's come-back to TV as likely as Jimmy Saviles'

i reckon Schofield's career in the UK will be as vibrant as that of Kevin Spacey in the US.
