God's way of telling her to act her age.

Proving that looking younger than your age won't necessarily save you. She was simply the best. OK, maybe not, but it had to be done.

Glad we're done with the idiotic posts.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

The telly on showing footage of her career. She seems to have had the energy of a Premier League player , and well into retirement age.

This is a sad one to see. Private Dancer was a classic, recorded in England with several high-profile British artists coming together to help re-launch her career, followed soon after by a memorable performance at Live Aid where her friend David Bowie joined her on stage. I still remember that as if it were yesterday. RIP, legend.

Goodbye to the Queen of 'Rock-n-Roll'. It doesn't seem possible that someone with so much energy could expire. A sad day, RIP.

Died a Swiss citizen. That must be where she became friends with Bowie (who lived there for years for tax reasons).

David Bowie persuaded EMI to give her a recording contract in 1984 so they had known each other long before she married and moved to Zurich in 2013. She developed into one of the all time great performers after a very tough start in life. She always appeared to have great fun on stage and she outshone both Bowie and Jagger in her duets with them. A great female artiste and a sad loss. RIP. Edited by Palace Old Geezer (25 May 2023 12.18pm)
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
