In England squad. I know the legends and Mitchell falling under that umbrella of players who have been cursed by an England call up but I think this is good news. I have a feeling we'll struggle to keep hold of him going forward in any circumstance but very pleased for him now, it's deserved! Terrified defences will be the new global pandemic! Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Although I would never begrudge him being rewarded with a cap for his abilities, there is part of me (the selfish Palace fan) who dreads him playing for England. I fear that he may get injured and most of all fear a recurrence of that Achilles injury that took him out for so long. Selfish, as I say, but I so want him to be fit and raring to go for the new season.

We all know while he’s playing for us he’ll only ever be a bit part or bench warmer, but I do hope he gets a cap or two, on current form he deserves it

Everybody knows my opinion, most naturally gifted player since Gascoigne, i think his religious beliefs "Might" stop him from chasing the Dollar
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

I think he'll need to kick on again to become a serious attraction for England and the top 4. I currently categorise him as similar to the Saka and Grealish of Euro 2020 where they are very talented players who can give you a moment of brilliance, of a 9/10 performance, but can easily give you 70 minutes of anonymous 5 or 6/10. Eze has recently shown he can deliver consistent 7 or 8/10 performances with occasional 9/10 performances against the lower half sides. To be a really serious player, he needs to be able to do what someone like Foden does, which is guarantee you minimum 7.5/10 performances against the top 10. Zaha never quite achieved it and ultimately that's probably why we held onto him. At that point, he becomes very interesting for England's bigger games and the top 6 and we probably lose him for big money.

I just can’t see where he fits into Southgate’s usual set up. I doubt if he will play more than 10 minutes as a sub, the England set more than likely want to have a closer look at him. It wasn’t that long ago, he was terrible against Brighton, his good performances have come against struggling teams. Not keen on Palace players being called up for England, they invariably get their heads turned by players at bigger clubs and end up leaving, it happened to all those in the early 90s after call ups.

Superb in the tackle today, which he seems to have added to his game, although I do wince when he gets stuck in, we don’t want him injured again Edited by monkey (28 May 2023 10.27pm)

Eze.....what an Eagle. i would love us to keep him. But if the cheque is big enough.....we can always do business with the Top 4 clubs.
