There has been a lot of `click bait` reports of us being interested in this guy but the BBC are now reporting we have been watching him.

BBC Sport understands that no bid has been made but Franca has been watched by the club. The midfielder is a Brazilian U20 international and has made 21 appearances this season for Flamengo scoring two goals. There are a number of players out of contract this summer including midfielders Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur, while Albert Sambi Lokonga will return to Arsenal when his loan deal expires at the end of the season. Franca started his career in the Flamengo academy and made his debut for the first team in 2021. Perhaps there is some substance in it.

Annoyingly, Brighton are an example of how effective good scouting can be - particularly from South America. Buy them cheap, improve them, become decent. I've always felt we're missing a trick here. Never heard of the bloke, but then again, I'd never heard of Caicedo, Mac Allister, Estupinan, Enciso, Buonanotte... They paid £7m for Mac Allister. He's probably worth about £60m now.
