Those 2 touches in the 93rd minute could be the difference in the season. Start him up front in the middle cos' we want more!

With Wilf injured could OE and JPM play in a two against weaker teams or do we stick with Ayew playing behind a single striker ?

Calm down scarlet. One Swallow doesn't make a summer and 2 touches don't make a President.

Each and every one of us, either at Selhurst or at home whooped with delight when JPM scored, but he's not yet consistent enough to be placed on a pedestal. Moments before he scored he bungled what looked like a certain headed goal.

Unfortunately, neither JPM or OE are strikers in the same mould of, say, Ollie Watkins. At least yesterday we saw more fire and brimstone than we have so far this year and if Roy starts JPM at Leeds, and he scores, then I'll join you in campaigning.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Best hope is that he's a confidence player and now goes on a bit of a scoring run with Eze and Olise playing him in. He took his goal so well that it's hard to see why he hasn't had more success but I thought that after Ayew's goal v West Ham a while ago.

the light at the end of the tunnel could be the headlight of the train coming the other way .
good goal but Mateta is not good enough to be a prem player and never will be .

He took his goal well considering he had only been on a few minutes and his back heel flick v. Brighton last season was memorable, but having said that I am inclined to agree - he is not skilled enough.

However, if he now gets a start and scores then I may have to eat my words ...

A broken clock has better movement than Mateta too. It's not just the lack of goals that makes our forwards inadequate, it's their awful all round game as well.

I'd be very happy if Mateta (or Ayew or Edouard) scored a few during the rest of the season, but it wouldn't make them good enough. Of all the positions we need to strengthen, centre forward is critical. We need to roll the dice again this summer and hope for better luck.

None of which should detract from am excellent goal yesterday. Initially I thought Mateta had got lucky with a bad first touch, but having seen it again I don't doubt that he meant it. In any event, the finish was very good.

As much as I hope we sign an upgrade, I expect Mateta to still be at the club next season so anything we can get out of him is welcome.

I am optimistic that he can add value if we attack like yesterday.

I would agree ,getting the ball forward quicker didn't seem to encourage Eddie to want to get on the end of much for 85 minuites (was it 2 tame shots ). Mateta in his 10 minuites managed a poor header and the goal
Would suggest getting the ball forward quicker suits Mateta more than Edouard
