I've read a lot on here about Palace going to the "next level" but I'd be interested to hear what people think our next level is.

Without significant investment, it's hard to imagine us breaking into the top 6 so are people expecting us to aim for 7th or 8th?

Or do people think there's a chance of emulating Leicester and actually winning the PL if we get the next manager right?

Realistically 5 year plan - top 10 with either the start of the stadium being built and obviously still being in Premier league.

Teams in the Premier league now, have so much money and they're owned by money bags from UAE that frankly, competing is always going to be hard with the stadium we have, no consistent cap on teams spending and investors who aren't so forthright with spending (or from what it seems)

In an ideal world,Palace would get the go ahead to build on a dilapidated Crystal Palace Park which has got less and less funding.

I'd dream of Palace getting to Europa but that... might be a dream. I'd settle for good entertaining football.

Given our turnover and our size (as I said in another thread, we are the 26th largest club by revenues in the world) I would say the level we should be at is around 50 points a season, always finishing somewhere around 10th place, and perhaps a Cup final/Europa League qualification once every 5-10 years. We should not be involved in relegation battles, and in a very good year when everything falls into place (maybe once in a decade) we might be on the fringes of the top 6.

Our performance over the last decade may be the best in our history but that doesn't stop it being punching below our weight. With decent owners and sound management, the above is entirely possible.

I am coming to the view (contrary to what I want on an emotional level) that Selhurst is a millstone around our neck. It's near impossible to redevelop properly, and a new main stand may amount to putting lipstick on a pig. Instead of wasting another five years lobbying various councils, we may do better to build a new stadium on a new site, move the club forward, and have done with it.

Bring 1 really talented Prem player through per season. Significant improvement in scouting (so we are paying 5-10 million for the Doucoures, Andersens, Ezes and Edouard and not circa 20m).

Truly stabilize within the division.

Then start looking up not down.

These things are not totally impossible.

At the moment is there a next level? There are 7 clubs with much greater resources who are out of reach. Mid-table is all we can hope for.

I'm not sure its a level as such but 50 points is a good and realistic target.
We need a manager next year - whatever happens. If we survive this choice will be more difficult. Bielsa or the like would be a disaster. I see Cooper mentioned. Why would he leave current job unless they are relegated and then do you want him? This crucial to any progress and frankly I've no idea, unless Everton get rid of Dyche. I know that wouldn't be universally popular.
The stadium. I'd say be bold. Try and strike some deal to redevelop the athletics stadium up the road. Bad access I know, but near and I would have thought there was a deal for a 35k to 40k stadium.
