I really think it's best to stress how important I think it is that the whole fan base needs to be onside and together for the game against Leicester.

If ever there was a home game I think would be important for a louder than ever Palace support, it'd be the next game.

Roy isn't everyone's first choice of reinvigorating the squad but.....it's a home game, with a manager who supports and grew up Palace and has been here through the last s***storm, with a team of at least some dedicated players. Now is not the time for the "I'm throwing my season ticket in the bin" posts.

I remember last season the noise from Everton supporters when they were in the toilet, it makes a difference and if the support is behind the team then it might make this seasons difference no matter what you think of the manager or boardroom.

I think it's in the short term it's good timing from the board, best time to change and going over the stats since our last win (slow day in the office)... 31st December..it really is a terrible read in honesty.

I dont think you'll get a more committed backroom staff in - Paddy, Lewington, Roy, poss Derry - at least we can safely ascertain they give 2 tosses and aren't in it for a quick payday.

I think a lot of people here need to divorce underlying realities from contemporary situations.

The fact is, common to all of us, we support CPFC. That support is a constant; we don't choose where and when to apply it. It's simply a fact of our lives; part of our identities.

Sometimes, our support is challenged by contemporary events as is happening now. And when that happens, the thing that we support is made to suffer for one reason and another, and it becomes less "attractive" as a result. But it doesn't change anything. If your wife becomes mortally ill, you don't leave her. She's still your wife.

It's absolutely appropriate that we discuss and excoriate the board for bringing the club we love to the situation we now find ourselves in. But we're all still Palace supporters and as such, at 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon, I expect everyone to be 100% behind the team. If you're not - if you're handing in your season tickets - then I'd question whether you're a "real" supporter.

The measure of all of us and what makes CPFC special is how we stand at times like these. Everyone's a supporter when we get to Wembley. That's easy. The real supporters are those who get behind the team at times like today.

On the outside I'll support Palace through thick and thin. On the inside I'm thinking they're a pretty inept club who have failed to progress with however many false dawns. Sometimes being positive isn't the easiest. This entire situation stinks of amateurish running of a club. Everything was foreseeable and avoidable.

Rather than positive, I bloody hope we win against Leicester, but it's only hope rather than expectation. Genuinely think we'll be lucky with a draw. I know we usually beat them but they did buy smart in the last couple of windows. We didn't. Plus Roy now, is not Roy two or three years ago. I'd have appointed a younger man for the future and wouldn't even be against doing a Norwich. It's not the end of the world and they seem better run than us.

What manager do you think would be a good idea?

From the ones touted (might've been more but I don't know.)

1. Carrick - not going to leave a Middlesborough on a role.
2. Gerrard - zero affinity with the club much less any more of a clue than Vieira and still learning.
3. Lampard as above.
4. Hassenhuttel - probably the only one I expect would've been ok but it depends if he wants a relegation scrap.
5. Favre - As above, I doubt he wants 2 weeks to work on a team he doesn't know ow and hasn't picked and would most likely be more interested in the summer for a rebuild.
6. Bielsa - Same as Favre
7. Hodgson - knows staff, knows most the team,knows Mccarthy, Derry ,Lewington is a seasoned trainer, he can certainly improve Mitchell and Eze again, he doesn't need the money so isn't here for a quick payday,has a point to prove after last job.

As for amateurish, I'd suggest you could look at the bottom 7 teams and say the same thing except mostly, they've spent a damn site more.

The board does deserve some of the blame but I'm not so sure it can be directed wholey at Parish. We have 2 parasitic american investors trying to jump ship as soon as another team goes up for sale, Textor with his Del boy dealings and a stadium that's forever in hiatus of a rebuild.

I will hedge my bet on the support being brilliant against Leicester, us beating them 3-1 and Roy doing the splits with some sparklers at the wrists. If that doesn't happen then a 'touch and go' Palace 1-0 will be sufficient.

I don't care or know the full situations of teams below us. Frankly, there won't be more than two or three below us at the end of the season. How will Roy turn this around?

Being the only choice is desperation rather than actually being at all wanted. Any poll is not going to come out with 'Palace fans want Roy back'. Far from it.

Plus, how are the facilities? The new stand. All our money wasted on mercenaries' wages. All with no sell on value. There is no improvement at the club at all except for the Academy.
As it turns out we would have been required to have that academy within a couple of seasons anyway.
That's where it's amateurish too. As I'm trying to point out, a long term strategy is required but we look like we can't plan a week ahead - let alone a couple of seasons.
How many times did we start a season clearly deficient in one or more area? I didn't notice other sides having no left backs etc. The list goes on. But there's little point if someone's going to list some names and say Roy is the best.
He's poor at best and it lacks any coherence, planning or foresight.
There is a whole world of managers out there. Some have even saved sides, despite the fans and Parish not liking them. I'd take a bad guy to save us. I wouldn't care less who it is.
To counter it all, I don't like disrespecting Roy, he had his time with us and I'm grateful for that but anyone at all gracious would have said no to this. I have zero faith in this working.
