I suggest a thread where we are positive about PV, if he were to ever read this site, he could skip to just the kind messages. Honestly, he did ok. He fell short of our expectations (and his own), but he leaves her with good karma and respect from me and others. We now have some really exciting players, we have attack options, we defend well, we seem to be solid in midfield now... we need some more luck, but our league position isn't bad (relative to other seasons). One thing you can say is it is obvious he cared - he spoke with emotion and honesty and you could see he really wanted to make this team great. Personally, I would have loved to see him tackle the last few games which look easier on paper - but actually, if it was time for him to go, we have Paddy Mac who has been great stuff with the youth teams. Thanks PV - it's sad managers don't get very long these days, I would have kept you on for longer, good luck with your next challenge.

What I don’t understand is why the board were going to consider sacking him last February , something is just not right somewhere But yes I agree he did a great job last season and wasn’t invested in enough this season,

It sounds like from what I've picked up in a few articles that it wasn't so much PV as the coaching staff that were the problem. It's a real shame it didn't work out and I wish him all the best.

If it is the case that the coaching was obviously not up to standard then you have to look at PV, Parish, Freedman, other spies at Beckenham.

Yer, did great, spent our money, took a large pay off, give all the players no fitness or confidence, played players out of position, took us on a winless two and a half month journey spiraling towards relegation, well done, hope we get another like him.

Does anyone have any information on how Osian Roberts performed on the training ground? PV may have been let down by those above and below him.

You could justifiably argue that he played players out pf position because he had incredibly limited options of who to play in the correct position. Zaha upfront rather than two strikers who can't score? Schlupp in midfield rather than Luka or Riedeweld. Seems Will Hughes struggles to manage a whole game. Not saying he was correct with team selections, but he wasn't exactly blessed with the most balanced squad we ever have. I guess Lanzo we have two camps. Those that blame Vieira for everything, and those that think the board didn't back him enough. Personally, I would have preferred him to stick to one striker and play Zaha out wide. Schlupp not a central midfielder, but with a injured McArthur, he was probably a better bet than Luka or Rideweld. Originally posted by Lanzo-Ad

Patrick, thank you. The bell tolls for all managers at some point. But it didn't for you you. In your case, it was the bell end that tolled. There's nothing to be ashamed of in that.

You forgot to add the word "allegedly" onto the end of your post as I doubt whether that is true as I feel that is just the Palace hierarchy trying to chuck dirt around to justify their decision. The same Parish mouthpiece also said that Vieira wanted to apply for the vacant Leeds job which if true makes one wonder why anyone would want to leave our mid table club for one in danger of relegation. If true Vieira must have had serious misgivings about Parish and Palace
