With our track record of wasting transfer receipts, we'll get Maguire and they'll get Marc plus a load of cash!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

We cannot afford to sell our best players.
When we sold Bissaka I knew we would never be a big club under this management, but going back to being a full time selling club will ultimately only result in one thing.

Agree entirely Hrolf however the extent to which we are able to hang on to top talent I do question. The way the club is seemingly attempting to operate is not dissimilar to how the likes of S'ton not too long ago and now BHA (boo) do now. We are looking to buy younger players with a longer term vision however I'd be surprised if 'resale value' is not factored into the equation for instances such as this.

The more I see of Marc, both in terms of personality and performance, the more impressed I am. Buying him may be one of our best bits of business ever. If this is recognised by other teams, and if he even further improves, for all my wishing him to stay it may be out of our hands even if not part of the clubs plan. I'm unsure how long his contract is but that will feature too.

I'll just appreciate our employment of him for now.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We're not a selling club until we're no longer using the likes of Ayew and Schlupp who were average when they were signed for lowish fees five or six years ago and recruiting better than Mateta and Edouard IMO.

More money, more profile, ECL, england call-ups, increased sponsorship, more money...

Careers are short. I would not begrudge. We cannot stop him if he wants to go.

As you say, let's enjoy it while we have him.

And spend the money wisely.

The summer window is the worlds biggest football market . Hopefully Marc will want to stay at Palace, but if silly money comes in for him, who knows?

there will always be bigger clubs than Palace - that's life.

It's not doing BHA any harm at the moment - they lose a couple but have a squad who can cover and an excellent recruitment team.

The fact is we didn't have sufficient cover at RB when AWB left and no real plan in place and 3 years on i would say we are in the same position. Clyne has been a useful short term stop gap that we have now used for 3 years.

Then why are we only buying young players with a hope that their values will increase if not to sell them in the future

It’s not doing Brighton any harm because their recruitment/scouting is light years ahead of ours. Same as Brentford, both have owners who are heavily involved in analytics. Unfortunately we are not and it also seems Mr Harris is trying to buy a hefty share of Washington NFL team, together with another billionaire. Shame we ant attract this sort of investment
