What is it with these people? Clearly, the best films, actors and others associated with them got the awards.

What has the colour of their skin got to do with it? Surely not everything has to have a black face involved. It's enough that nearly every TV ad shows either black or mixed race folk in a very untypical representation of our demographic.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

It is easy to tell you don’t live in a metropolis.

46% of London is black or minority ethnic. Ethnically mixed couples appears to be the norm in Croydon.

Yep Mepletree, I know it might be the norm in Croydon and some other places, but not in the Country as a whole.

So when London declares independence don’t worry, we’ll take them all with us. The only question is what to do with Reading.

'Appears', doesn't match up to statistical reality.

What you are happy with isn't the norm for most.

Meritocracy only works within low corruption systems.

At the base level all the individual cares about is status.

So whatever tactic works is all they are going to care about.

Never hear any complaints about the line up for the olympics 100m final. Merit is the key element.

Someone wrote the other day that news and social media coverage of the lady who fell into the water in Lancs would have been virtually non-existent had she been black or Asian. Now we have hypothetical racial bias.

You do wonder how sentiments for 'will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character' have been hijacked and driven over here to judging everything by the colours of people's skin?

It's almost as if it's been hijacked by ideologues and the exclusively self interested or summink?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Luvvy nonsense they all spout the right words but would happily trample over their own grandmother if they thought they were up for an award.

I don't see how you can have any meritocracy in a system where people use emotion to judge another's ability. Some will tell you Gone With the Wind is the Greatest movie ever made others will say it's Ali Gi in Da House. Whatever floats your boat.
