Not sure if anyones raised this in other chats but surely its worth a punt to get dele till the end of season on a pay to play basis. This would be a classic palace signing. A player that has lost his way but then turns a corner with our misfits of a squad. If he could get to anywhere near his playing potential he would be a massive signing for the central midfield. I just feel palace is the type of place that would put an arm round his shoulders (supporters included) to get him back to the big stage.

I think it's a nice idea however the reality would be very different. He's about as much of a footballer as I am these days.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Don't touch with a barge pole. He's completely lost it I'm afraid. Two failed moves since Spurs where the teams had the same hope to turn around his career. If we have any money, and that's a big IF, we certainly shouldn't be wasting it on him. We've already got a few passengers in the squad.

It’s kinda weird how the penny hasn’t dropped with him... his attitude seems to be the problem.. he has bags of ability.. he’s played at the top level.. pay as you play... yes maybe... Jose’s way definitely didn’t work... maybe PV has that touch...

I actually agree with everything you've said, but Alli is broken, possibly irreparably, and he's definitely NOT what we need right now. If you could get him on a free, at sensible wages, and a contract no longer than 18 months (all of which seems impossible), then spend 6 months trying to repair him ready for next season, I could persuaded by the idea. But bringing him in thinking he has anything to contribute any time in the immediate future is somewhere between wishful thinking and delusional. Edited by sydtheeagle (17 Jan 2023 4.57pm)

I think Everton had a similar idea and it didn't work out. It's a '' no '' from me.

Sad to say the lad's career has derailed and would be nothing but trouble. A frayed knot.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

In his first two seasons at Tottenham he made 70 apps in the PL and scored 28 goals.Since then has made about 120 PL apps (Over 5 seasons) and scored 23 goals.

People always talk about his 'bad attitude' without really defining what he does wrong. He doesn't strike me as a bad person, I just don't think he's got the driven personality required to achieve. I suspect in fits and starts he decides he really wants to give his career a go, but he's found it's not quite as effortless as it once was. By now it's too late to just turn that tap back on, and hundreds, if not thousands, of other players around the globe have worked their bollocks off for the past 5 years and are now much more effective players.
