It was more of the same against Southampton. Despite a fluke goal from Ward-Prowse and a howler from Guaita, we were still on the front foot and creating chances until Viera made his usual changes around the 60-70 minute mark. Edouard was creating space in the box, but may have got a knock, but Mateta offers nothing in comparison. Surely Gordon could have been given a chance instead. The addition of Hughes in midfield gave it more bite and allowed Doucoure more freedom. Meanwhile, Olise was creating everything and linking up play with Zaha. Viera then lost the game by unnecessary changes, especially in midfield
Luka and Schlupp bring nothing to the table, while Ayew works hard but shouldn't be guaranteed 90 minutes. Eze is class, but surely should play as a no.10 by dropping Ayew and playing Olise on wide right with Zaha wide right.
So what is happening? Osian Roberts Could be the problem as he appears to get into Viera's ear around this time in a game.
Maybe Viera needs a more experienced no.2 at his side who won't panic during games.

Let's see what the transfer window brings.

I agree no need for panic

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Sorry. It should have read Olise on the right and Zaha on the left.

I agree with the 'no need to panic' on a cognitive and rational level however that does not align with my emotional and natural reaction to all things Palace related. So whilst a solid sentiment I can acknowledge, it is of no relevance to me.

I like to panic and moan as I do on here but in all honestly I feel as though I will be holding my breath for a while. A true litmus test is coming in not just the tough run but the games following to see whether the absolutely evidence based panic needs to set in.

For now, I will hope everything pans out OK and stick with the irrational, hysterical panic I am very accustom to.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Let’s face it this club has given us all plenty to panic about over the years. Relegation or the frequent fear of it, promotions and the dread of missing out and even administrations and whether the club itself will cease to exist. Panic is the standard MO of most Palace supporters. Boring it isn’t! Thankfully in the last 10 years everything has turned out well by the season’s end and hopefully this one will be the same.

Excellent post Vectis and I thank you for the reassurance in my albeit slender grip on sanity (bold).

Osian Roberts is a very experienced and v well respected coach, so lets not pretend that he's stupid, and killing games for us, by making PV make certain subs.

Whilst I share in the disappointment, we should have beaten them. 2 ridiculous mistakes cost us. Its annoying, but it would be worse if we were getting battered by Southampton.

They will feel happy for a few days, but we were clearly the better team, and the are in BIG trouble

As a Palace supporter I think it's a bit early to panic given we're 7 points clear of relegation with a game in hand. Having said that, the lack of strength of our bench (even without many injuries) points to a tough second half of the season if we don't strengthen. Vieira also seems to be getting more vocal in communicating his desire for reinforcements, which is understandable.

As normal your post is massively wide of the mark. In terms of qualifications he holds more coaching badges than most and he was widely acclaimed for his ability to turn around Wales fortunes.

As a matter of interest what exactly is your knowledge base when it comes to the man. Do you know him, have you worked with him? What has his fitness got to do with being a coach? Benitez, Allardyce, there are many who were interested more in coaching than what they eat in a restaurant. So what is your point exactly, or is this just your idea of a crap joke?
