I never thought I would agree with Rayner, Shunak's self PR is beyond embarrassing. Britain is politically broken from all sides
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

He's had so many of these moments now. Bragging about diverting money from areas in need, saying that he doesn't know any working class people.. likely honest there of course. This one is almost hilarious in how tone deaf it is. Very Alan Patridge like. Desperately trying to come across as a 'normal bloke' while being so ill at ease and out of touch. 'Do you work in business?' 'What are you doing this weekend?' Edited by footythoughts (25 Dec 2022 2.56am)

He should , as should any leader, just be himself. This fakery is nonsense, both sides have this problem.

Firstly happy Christmas all. Secondly, I know I am a bore but the only rational explanation for what has happened to the Tories is that they WANT to lose the next election. They want Starmer to take the heat for something (which I suspect is us being forced back into the EU). With this utter s*** show proof of that. Beyond comprehension in this modern PR age.

It would be scary if he thought it was a good look. I really think the UK is in steady decline which started late 90's. Nothing to do with Brexit, it's just a steady spiral down with the elected politicians being totally partisan and treating it as a method of self enrichment. At least we're not Scotland which is worse.

Just looks like trying to make conversation to me unless I'm missing something.

It seems these people will never learn. I think of William Hague telling of how he used to drink 15 pints a day and appearing on some fair ride wearing a baseball cap, Gordon Brown solemnly saying in a video that he was a fan of the Arctic Monkeys, Liz Truss being photographed in a tank, Johnson clashing elbows with every nurse he saw on his daily hospital visits. They treat us like fools, and it's all so depressing. I wonder how much these advisers get paid.

I seem to remember Tony Blaire telling people he was an Aston Villa fan only for some journalist to dredge through the archives to find some piece from years before where he said he supported another team - Originally posted by JRW2

Back on Sunak and a bit of FYI my friend volunteers at the passage it's just around the corner from Victoria Station. It does good work for the homeless. The exchange with Sunak was cringing but also understandable. What do you say to someone who lives in the street "how's your day been?" My point is that we should not judge someone on that, of course it was embarrassing but unless you are used to speaking to homeless people I expect some of us would also be as clunky with our language. I will judge him on his actions.

I really hate seeing the salvation army ad with homeless people. It is so upsetting. To think in 2022 we still have this problem the UK doesn't seem to be capable of doing anything except for the rich. What is actually, so difficult?

Give Boris his due, he was natural with that stuff, as anyone who was tackled by him will attest. But it is a s*****w. Just as shame the alternative is every bit as unpalatable!

We should stop spending billions importing migrants and on foreign aid and spend the money on our own.
