Personally I would rather they not get called up. If they play and play well they will be poached for sure. If they do go I would rather they sit on the bench. They are both young enough to do their international stuff after the WC.

Never felt so antagonistic about a World Cup. FIFA - proven corrupt yet unpunished. Qatar - a desert mini-state ruled by super-rich despot. England - a team run by a perennial loser who makes RH look like a risk taker. No idea how many of our players may be affected - just hope those that are return uninjured.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

As selfish as it sounds, I would be delighted if only a couple of our players were playing in the World Cup. I’m guessing most clubs will treat it like another preseason with ample time off, fitness and training. Shame, because we are on a good run..

So you've been antagonistic about World Cups before then. Which ones and why?

Guehi will go, very unlikely to play. CB is a mess and Gareth will want to give his preferred combination as many minutes together as possible. It'll be Stones, Maguire, Dier. Mitchell might go, would need Shaw and at least one of the travelling right backs to be injured in order to play. Trippier will start, Shaw/TAA/James/Walker will be the other.

Can’t see Mitchell making the 50. Can’t see Eze going, leaving Guehi. Very much doubt he will play. Anderson is going. If we prepare right we will be raring to go by Christmas.
