Everybody knows that TV game show contestants are grown in a lab.

Closest I can get is a work colleague who was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He won 16k and wisely chose not to answer the next question which was about knitting. He was good enough to admit he would have chosen the wrong answer. I don't think he got expenses you just turned up and hope you were picked.

I was once on a radio show quiz where you had to identify a famous voice from a 2 second clip. This quiz had been going for weeks where there had been hundreds of wrong answers given, and every time it was answered incorrectly another hundred quid was added to the prize money. It was worth thousands, and I 100% knew who it was. Anyway, I got through and was put on hold until the presenter came to me. After a bit of inane chit-chat he played the voice again then asked me for my answer. I could hardly wait to cockily spurt out 'Neil Tennant from The Pet Shop Boys'. The drum rolled for 5 seconds and then he revealed that I was wrong. It's a good job they've got a 7 second delay the names I called him.

Cash on Delivery on Capital Radio three times in the 1970's. Won it once. Countdown in 2017. Lost on Crucial Conundrum. Passed audition for Weakest Link in 2001 but not called. Passed audition for the Chase in 2020 but not yet called. It's the challenge not the monetary reward that urges me on. Countdown is recorded in Manchester. I live in Cornwall. The return train fare and hotel for two nights were paid.

A uni friend of mine went on the old snooker gameshow Big Break. He was studying to be a doctor, so when he got an easy maths question wrong (and Big Break was hardly a tough quiz), Jim Davidson mercilessly took the p!$$ out of him for the entire show. My friend said getting horrendously p!$$ed with Davidson and Virgo after the show was the highlight lol

Edited by martin2412 (02 Nov 2022 2.18pm) I don't want to hear 'Neil Tennant' and 'spurt out' in the same sentence, thanks!
