Have been a solid Palace fan for many years and like most of us been through many up's and downs!! I am feeling very positive with the current set up (but not complacent) are you feeling the same? This has to be the best football we have seen for a long time with talented players in many positions. IMO we need a midfield maestro who has vision and a pass in him, this before a right back. COYP

Fair play, it's nice to see a bit of optimism. I must admit any I feel is more out of hope than expectation.

Tonnes to be positive about.

Best crop of young players I can remember, transfer policy has been revolutionised, and we are capable of playing some really good stuff.

Cant remember the last time we got stuffed/outplayed. Instead we are loosing game due to a bit of bad luck, or lapse in concentration etc.

Honestly cannot understand anyone who isn't positive about he club at the min.

We are not that far off being a top 8 side. A bit more in squad depth / strength and we shall get there.

I actually agree with this, when you look at a lot of the other teams, I think our best 11 on their day are 7th or 8th best in the league easily. But it’s a long season and because of our lack of depth we’re also only a few injuries away from being in a relegation battle, but we all know that, that’s why we celebrate every vital point or win

A couple of seasons ago this same side would probably have been a shoe in for top half. We're in a strange situation this year where a lot of the teams of a similar stature have really spent. Added to that the ongoing demise of some of the 'big' clubs. Other clubs getting rich, and the stupid timing of a pointless world cup, and we see it's a tough season. We'll survive, as there are three worse teams. But there aren't many more than three, unfortunately. They have bought their way to better things, we haven't.
We either need to spend, or use the youth next season. There is absolutely no way we can rely on several of the current swuad. They simply have to go. It's a very black and white choice. Interestingly, and you may not agree, it looks to me like PV isn't particularly keen on youth - so make of that what you will. Are we going to spend? Frankly, seems unlikely. Things will come to a head - as they always have - and we will move on. It's the Palace way.

We have never had it so good.

Great owners who care.
Great scouting system.
Excellent Manager who gets it.
Fantastic squad of young talented players.
Incredible support.
Fantastic youth system.

With the games we have coming up we should be a good position in the league when play resumes boxing day.

All that's missing is the new stand and a working ticketing system.

Would be interested to hear your reasoning for believing this. PV has made it clear that he believes we need more experience in the squad and by that I think he means more experienced players who can go into the first team. This may be part of the reason he isn't giving one or more Academy players minutes in the PL games.

The other side of the coin is which youngsters would you give PL minutes to and in place of whom?

For me, before we can risk Academy prospects in PL games, we need to be a team well-placed in the league and high on confidence so that such youngsters can get the support they'll need to adjust to PL football. Look how long it takes more seasoned professionals coming into the league for the first time to adjust (Haaland excepted but then he's a one-off).

Finally, it will be interesting to see who PV chooses to play in the League cup game at Newcastle. Will Phillips and/or Rodney feature in the starting XI?

PS. With regard to the OP's post, yes, despite my pseudonym, I feel fairly positive about our club this season. The next 6 games will be critical for our fortunes in the rest of the season

We have a little spell like this once or twice every season where we’ve got a run of winnable games and we always come good, that’s one thing we’ve been good at since promotion, whoever’s been in charge, that’s getting a good haul of points from teams around or below us
