WARNING MOTORISTS : If you are driving to this Saturday's home fixture vs Chelsea be warned. Croydon council (ignoring the wishes of locals) have new CCTV traps around Selhurst Park. This goes live today September 30. The physical barriers to prevent you driving through have been deliberately removed and replaced with cameras to trap you. There are now two cameras on Holmesdale Road (one near the stadium and one nearer the junction with South Norwood Hill). There is one camera on Elm Park Road (near the junction with South Norwood Hill). Selhurst Park and the surrounding roads now fall within Croydon Council's 'South Norwood Healthy Neighbourhood' and trees have been cut down to allow the cameras a better view of your number plates. You may see some concerned locals warning motorists on Elm Park Road. Be careful out there.

Sorry; what is the "trap" exactly? What offence are the cameras there to detect?

Residents only parking and access. Just a way to make money from unsuspecting law abiding citizens.

Buying a property close to the stadium has got to come with certain drawbacks (I dont know if local property prices reflect that) obviously its great if your a palace fan but probably quite an inconvenience on match days if your not - If you own or rent a property close to the ground & you have a drop kerb you should be entitled to park outside your house or use the drop kerb to park on your driveway without having to be worried about someone having parked in such a way that you struggle to get on or off the driveway during match times - I know for as long as I can remember on match days there has been a recovery truck parked at the top of the Holmesdale road to remove offending vehicles -

More help from our friendly neighbourhood council. They obviously don't want a football club and I think it's time to oblige them.

It added about 25 mins to my journey purely for parking further away. All in all a pretty depressing match day.

No, you don’t understand, it is all to do with Croydon’s green agenda which they have demonstrated by cutting down trees to make sure the cameras have a clear line of sight.
