Andy Burnham is full of piss and wind and will say anything now as he has no accountability. He is trying to cry with anger which he should know is the preserve of Jess Philips. He spent years trying to get Corbyn elected as PM and IMHO is damned forever for that
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Corbyn said singing the National Anthem was " not necessary ". They will however, have the embarrassing attempt to sing The Red Flag at the end of the conference. This socialist hymn ( per wiki ) is the official song of the Japanese Communist party and a fave of the North Korean army. Let's see if there is heckling again from the Corbynistas and if Starmer is challenged over his picket line stance.

Andy Burnham is a chancer and like so many politicians bends in the wind. I agree Starmer is hardly the most charismatic leader, but maybe we need a few more dull polictians at the moment. I was even less impressed with the new chancellor who seemed to trot out a prerehearsed script which even then he got wrong - the ear in Ukraine being at various times either a once in a 60, 70 or 80 year event at various points and no real explanation as to why or how tax cuts for the rich will trickle down and benefit all. Clearly my lack of confidence is shared by the markets we are looking at to fund this give away as they have seen huge falls in the value of sterling and huge rises in costs of bonds this morning. Things are not looking good. Edited by orpingtoneagle (26 Sep 2022 10.00am)

Kwarteng did trip over the return period of the war, and not sure that was relevant. The point was the reality of the situation not how many times it was expected to occur. Burnham is now getting his face in front of every camera he can at the Labour party conference, chancer indeed. More interesting will be the brewing clash between the Left/Corbyn wing and Starmer's group as to whether policy is made by Conference or the Leader.

He has the policies in mind that I would like to see: more left wing, please. Convince the electorate that it's in their interests to get rid of the Tories, along with their lobbying mates, and get down to the business of redistributing wealth from the rich to the hard-working poor, who have been and continue to be driven down by these self-interested beasts. All of a sudden, the 'leftie' 'communist' idea of renationalising the utilities and trains is acceptable, isn't it? Even to those blue-rinse tories. How times change. Trickle - down? Yeah right. Property owning democracy? -Pipe dream. Burnham has the charisma to convince working people that it is time for change and why it is time for change of government and policies. Of course, it's policies that count but also the messenger and while I have no doubt that Starmer is an honourable man, he has the charisma of a garden snail, I'm afraid. They should end conference with the theme tune to The Archers. Great tactical move for the lower middles.
