John Jackson turned 80 on Monday this week. Sorry to be a bit late posting a very happy birthday to a true Palace legend.

So many wonderful memories of his heroics in keeping us in the old Division One for 4 years.

I hope the years are treating you well, Jacko.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

A great goalkeeper. I remember him saving a Francis Lee penalty when Lee hadn't missed for ages. He parried it out then saved the rebound too.
Happy birthday Jacko.

It was four years, some fans rate him higher than Nigel Martyn, prob not but those two and Speroni are our top 3, though Vincente is not far off.

Bill Glazier was one sold for a world record fee for a goalkeeper

Oops! Correction; Nigel Martyn twice attracted the BRITISH record
transfer fee for a goalkeeper, not the world record. Apologies.

Bill Glazier's world record fee - from Palace to Coventry in 1964 - was £35,000.

I thought he was a great goalkeeper, saved us countless times.

Malcolm Allison did not rate him so highly, replacing him with Paul Hammond.

I remember him rushing out to beat away goal-bound shots.

At Arsenal, a tame cross went straight through his hands we lost 0-1, a rare blemish.

i remember scoring a couple of penalties against him in the early 70s .Brian Moore the Big Match presenter was the patron of Sydenham Childrens Hospital (now no more) he was good friends with Jacko and the Fulham keeper Peter Mellor and Moore invited the pair of them to come to the Hospital fete to a beat the keeper challenge in Home Park . I was only 8 or 9 so would have been 1972 or 73 but i got 2 out of 5 past him. Jacko to me was and has always been the best keeper we have ever had

Nice one. All I got in there was soggy toast after having my tonsils out.
