I was taken to my first match in 1948 at the age of 5. Went with my uncle and dad and always stood on the Park Road side from then on. It was a muddy bank at the top and concrete steps below with metal railings to lean on. Half time was always hot Bovril and a meat pie. Been a supporter ever since. Great days of Johnny Byrne, playing Real Madrid and promotion to the first division will live long in my memories. Last season was great and hoping for even better things this season.

February 1964 for a game against Colchester United on a dull murky afternoon, and a dull 0-0 draw - actually I don't know if it was a dull game, but I certainly went back for more.

I went to three more games that season as we won promotion.In the process I bought a team photograph, a rosette and one of those plastic star lapel badges with a tiny photo of a player - unfortunately the one I purchased was of Andy Smillie, who, unbeknown to me, had left the club a number of months beforehand!

1968 3-3 v Charlton. A friend's dad took us, it was the only time I ever sat in the "old" stand. After January we didn't lose that season and of course got promoted which rather gave me a false impression of what things were going to be like for the next 54 years.

Got a few small memories from when I was really young, around 4 years old being held up on the bars so I could see etc but my real first memory of it meaning something special and when I started celebrating properly was probably the 4-3 at home to Millwall in 89. Thats when Palace became one of the most important things in the history of the universe for me

Not my first, but an early palace memory that will stay with me till my grave is one day at school, we had to shout out a top sports person, at that time, the likes of Kevin Keegan, George Best, Bjorn Borg, Alan Minter, Geoff Boycott etc were shouted out, it came to my turn and I shouted out BARRY SILKMAN!!! Now to me, we were only 3rd division, but he was a hero, so I was quite put out by the laughing and the shouts of ‘who??’ and that was just the teacher

But looking back, it was funny, and I’ve always been proud that I was palace in among all the kids who supported the usual big clubs

silkman had a few issues outside of the game with Rash the smash and he ended up as being a very successful greyhound trainer. My first memory was as a five year old sat on a barrier in the whiehorse terrace for our first game in Division 1 v Man Utd with a crowd of 49,000 ,which we ended up drawing 2 2
