At times I take pleasure in reading the woes of the mighty like Manchester Utd.Throughout the years they have become more arrogant with the belief they should
Always be top.
Yet here they are at the bottom of the Prem panic set in - get rid of coach then another then another get rid of Exec then another coach. Now get rid of the owners.
All because it just ain’t working for past 6 seasons
They have had top top coaches top players on BIG money

Where does it end with the Damned Utd of the premiere league ?

Keep buying players until they win ? Don’t stop until they win ?
What about the poor academy players options for getting in the team ?

United no more with supporters / players / coach / media

Forever Palace Proud

I'm luvin it.

I especially like the dross that United are now linked with and top players turning them down they know it's a basket case of a club. Meanwhile the owners keep taking money out of the club.

If the current manager can turn this lot around he really will be a top manager.

Excellent.

I think there is nary a football fan in England not relishing this soap opera-esque decline.

Man U have become undone by the amount of money in the game now. They were long the 'big boys', often buying the best players from 'smaller' clubs but now there are now numerous competitors in that market hence their panicked attempts to keep in that game and their subsequent failures in this paradigm shift. Not an intelligent diagnosis by any means just my opinion.

I, for one, am loving it. The ubiquitous Man U fan and shirt is becoming less and less visible these days (London/SE) and I take particular joy from those ever so typical glory-hunters now who have failed even in that most ignoble of ventures.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Manure's next door neighbours, the bbc, are doing everything they possibly can to keep Utd in the public eye. No matter what or who their football page is about, they work Utd into every thread/column. Must be the air in Salford.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

When Liverpool were dominant they never seemed as arrogant as Man United and accepting it was a different world back then still picked up players from lower division clubs and developed them.
Ferguson was a brilliant manager but he manipulated (bullied) the media into perpetuating the myth of their Theatre of Dreams narrative and their players did the same to referees.
Looking back the media were quite amusing.
1. Don't attack against them - they'll kill on the break.
2. Don't try and defend - they're too good going forward.
3. Don't take them on in midfield - they're too strong.
4. Don't bother turning up.

An amusing letter in The Times today from a reader commenting about the widespread universe of their 'supporters'.

He quoted a joke - it takes 3 men to change a lightbulb at Old Trafford, 1 to change the bulb, 1 to hold the ladder and the 3rd to drive the other 2 back to Guildford.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
