Strange line-up Looks like PV is still not learning I would be surprised if we don't get stuffed tonight I hope not and I am wrong but again that team looks not great. Ward and Schlupp terrible and Wilf up top I expect. Edited by grumpymort (15 Aug 2022 7.05pm)

Looks like 5 across the back and a very defensive attitude, worthy of a Roy Hodgson line up. We know (and PV also should) this doesn't work ...

I guess its Ward, Andersson and Guehi in a 3 at the back with Clyne and Mitchell at wing backs. Midfield 4 of Doucoure, Schlupp, Eze and Ayew with Wilf up top? I just cant see Clyne or Mitchell getting forward much. Hopefully, it will help us keep it tight at the back and we can capitalise on the occasional breakaway. I would have liked Mateta for his hold up ability and to occupy their centre backs. Pretty much no-one expects to get anything tonight. So, maybe it's worth trying something they may not have expected?

It's 3-5-2; doesn't seem so strange to me and Ward played much of the pre season in such a role.

Truth is, whatever 12 we put out it could be a tonking. Let’s hope this formation works and we are enjoying a decent display :-)

Line up looks strange. Seems to be inviting Liverpool to attack us. With players like Salah I fear this could be a real tonking. Very odd..

Liverpool are lethal on the counter with Salah and Dias and I think we’ll sit a bit deeper to avoid leaving space which they thrive upon.
