I can quite confidently say it was for me, probably the order of rumour/gossip/general discussion from peers and older girls. School came a bit late into play and far too scientific for my liking. Might provide some biological references but very little wider context, reality and hard truths for me. I believe like many I very eagerly but equally clumsily grasped every opportunity I came across until I finally had any real concept of how to approach the old ‘how’s your father’!! Speaking of clumsiness, I do find it quite hilarious to imagine myself with the research material so readily available today then trying to put that into practice without any context or experience. I can imagine there are some quite confused and disastrous learner drivers today. In all seriousness I would imagine a lot more accidents and accusations to start coming out of the woodwork however it has been a available for a while now!!!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Once someone becomes a teenager and they still don't naturally understand what their hormones are telling them.....then they probably shouldn't reproduce and perhaps take up Morris dancing instead.

To over extend the metaphor it must be like watching lots of Formula One then being given the keys to a Vauxhall Viva without knowing traffic lights exist.

I had no sex education from my parents whatsoever. Probably a blessing. I learned about the "facts of life" one afternoon after school when visiting the local library where a friend sidled over to me and handed me the book of revelation - no not that one - a sex education book. I was at least 11 years old, if not 12, by then, which now seems backward. I have to say it was quite shocking for me to learn what sexual intercourse is. My first thought was the inevitable - good lord my parents have done this. My second thought was, well I certainly won't ever be doing that. I was correct on the first point, but not on the second.

I found a very old 'sex manual for married couples' which kept referring to coitus, which sounded like an old fashioned game of ring toss.

My sex education was by a fat lesbian teacher - forgotten her name - quite a character. I remember her showing how to put a condom onto a plastic cock. All a bit surreal. Frankly, a lot of us (particularly the girls) were already at our fumblings. These days I presume it's about LGBTQ+ 57 others. Probably need a degree and masters in it. No doubt a new curriculum every week when someone invents the latest trendy gender (which are just sexual preferences).

I believe we was in junior school (parents had to give permission for the kids to attend the lesson, those denied had to wait elsewhere like pariahs)
