England played very well, but the game also encapsulated one of the problems with women's football, that is, the inequalities between many sides. Goal fests may be fun to watch on a warm summer's night but 8-0 score lines ultimately don't do the women's game any favours.

I would if it was a regular occurrence, but it is not. I don’t think it is a regular occurrence anywhere, England had a soft penalty to start with and Norway had a player sent off, but the lionesses played at full tilt. Most teams are happy to sit back on a lead This a competition that teams have to qualify for. I’d say maybe N Ireland fall a bit short but Norway are I believe a respected team in the ladies game (twice winners from what I believe commentary said) Maybe you know more about the ladies game

You can add to this lots of games where 5 were scored. As I have stated elsewhere I have no issue with women's football in principle - I enjoyed last nights Spain v Germany game where a high degree of skill was on display - but there is much catching up to do among nations where the women's game has not progressed as much as elsewhere. Too many one-sided matches is not a good advert for the women's game, and makes for rather tedious and predictable viewing.

I also watched the game last night and didn’t see any marked quality difference between them and the England v Norway game. In some ways those ladies team mirrored the stereotypical view of the mens ; Germany well organised, physical and difficult to break down, Spain playing a lot of one or two touch passing on the deck but not getting anywhere fast I’m all for goals, Liverpool and Mam City regularly get a handful, and the qualifiers of the Euros are always based on grading basis - only in the nations league is their some sort of parity - Rarely do you get more than a couple of equally matched teams in Euro qualifiers in the mens game either so think their is always mismatches

One only needs to think of England's qualifying groups for any major championship. So many of the games, frankly, a waste of time. Malta, Faroe Islands, Andorra - similar part-time dross. The men's team would unlikely score eight, however, as only an ageing Kane seems to know how to score. And he spends half the time tracking back. I won't mention Iceland.

Norway were poor but come on the England women were great. Let's face it the England men's team could not beat Hartlepool reserves 8-0.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

I watched The Netherlands v Portugal last night and was thoroughly entertained. I don't think Portugal were helped by the fact their goalkeeper was about 5ft tall, but they showed a lot of spirit and some of their forwards had some skill in their locker. I've had lots of friends taking their kids to the games and having a great time too.

I watch a fair bit of ladies footy and I did expect England to win but in a tight game, maybe 1 or 2 nil.
