Just wanted to start this thread upon watching ol’ KdB’s performance and haul against Wolves tonight but also, as I was a ‘centre midfielder’, it’s the position I have, with massive bias, often considered being reserved from the true ‘footballers’ and therefore holding the most prestige.

Back to De Bruyne, he has to be up there for me in the category of ‘best I’ve seen’, sheer class. Alongside him I hold Socrates, Zidane, Scholes, Gerrard (sorry), Xavi, iniesta, Pirlo, Kaka and Michael Hughes in very high esteem also.

Just for fun if you care to add your own, I’m sure I’ll enjoy and probably agree a lot too!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Modric is class too.

But for me I'd have to say Zidane and Pirlo. Absolute genius players. Our main man Vieria was up there too!

Oh - and Barry Bannan.

Zidane was a wonderful player.

For different reasons I always enjoyed watching Hoddle / Brady and Vieira / Keane.

Paul Merson Portsmouth versus Palace at Selhurst. He was the puppet master pulling the strings we lost that day and we even clapped him off.

Okay one game and not in the PL but it still sticks in the mind after all these years. It was a Steve G performance (Champions League) however I only saw that on TV.

Zidane for me, best player ever in my opinion, Andy gray just behind him though.

The clown prince himself . . . Gazza

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

As I suspected I'm in agreement with virtually every post! Keep 'em coming people thoroughly enjoying it, liking the Zizou consensus too he is my personal favourite to the extent I actually have a canvas of him in my office!

A worthy inclusion IMHO Lanzo!

Ever so slightly before my time believe it or not but have been regaled with numerous stories of yesteryear of him!

Ones I've actually seen include Bryan Robson and Gazza, as has been said already, but I'd add David Platt in his prime to that list. Tireless box to box and could finish (remember his last minute extra time goal in the World Cup v Belgium)?

And, of course, Nick Chatterton.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.
