As Edouard hasn’t been involved in recent months, I watched his play closely today to see if I could establish a reason for his lack of involvement.

Thought he had a good game today.. was unlucky and could have scored on a couple of occasions...I wonder whether both him and Mateta who was also unlucky today could play together.....

IMO I think the answer is less about what his is lacking, more an indication of the options we have. He's obviously got ability, and his running with he ball means he can play out wide as well as up top. Unfortunately for him Olise and Zaha are the best options out wide, and JPM is doing well enough to keep his place.

I just don't see a place for him, Not a Loan CF, PV doesn't play two up front, and even if Wilf went i think he is to lazy to cover back

Played well today, still looks somewhat unsure, perhaps low on confidence, to me anyways. He and others may just still be adapting to how Vieira wants to play, not just how they want/are used to. Just a thought. I think Edouard has the potential to be a very good player for us. I would suggest it's way too early to rule him out purely because he hasn't set the world alight. If next season proves fruitless, we may well start looking at other options, including that of selling him. I definitely hope this isn't the case. Just a small point, perhaps not even a correct one, but I do remember thinking on a number occasions this afternoon, when my eyes scanned a bit more broadly, we were lacking a final pass? I'm not talking about during moves down the wing or quicker breaks forward etc. Sometimes we'd have the ball in advanced positions, sometimes even with the CBs, and I could see plenty of decent movement up front but no pass was forthcoming, it inevitably went sideways or even just out wide. There was a well documented period towards the end of his Celtic spell but I've not seen any of that at Palace. My take is he's done ok in his first season adapting to a much higher level. He's definitely got potential and room for improvement and offers a different type of threat to our other strikers. Quite happy having him as an option and hoping he'll push on next season. He needs game time and will hopefully get it next season. Going to be another close season of comings and goings at Palace.
