Barnes chose England over Jamaica and Giggs chose his sister in law over his wife

At the time of Barnes' international career, FIFA's national team eligibility criteria allowed British passport holders to represent one of the British football associations if they had no blood ties to the United Kingdom. Barnes had already planned to represent England where he had lived since the age of 12.

A lot of places had run with false stories about he was not able to play for England which is untrue he even believed it himself but if you look at the rules he could of.

Would have been frustrating having Ryan Giggs playing for England. Ferguson used to pull him from the Wales squad at any given opportunity. Giggs only played 65 times for Wales for his long career. Contrast with Gareth Bale who has played over 100 times.
