I'm not one for screaming 'PC gone mad' when someone farts about with language to make themselves feel better, but apparently Lambeth is seriously considering changing the name of TH as Sir Henry Tulse's family drew their wealth largely from slavery. I went to Primary School in TH!

I went to Primary School in TH! I used to drink in the Tulse Hill Tavern. There was a hilarious review website for Pubs which had some brilliant comments on it. My favourite one for the THT was "The only thing that would persuade me to return would be if I was armed with a flamethrower". It is PC gone mad. Who really gives a f**k honestly. Tulse Hill is not a celebration of anything, it's just some gaffe in South London. Let's start researching the name origins of everywhere and deciding what people are happy with? Apparently, Norwood was named after some bloke who once ate his dessert with a soup spoon, let's rename that. Bo**ocks.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Lets call TH 'Dulwich West' Imagine some new Embassy employees moving to London, wanting to send their kids to Dulwich College. I have visions of estate agents walking them around their 'competitively priced' properties in Dulwich. ''well, Mr Ambassador, not just 'Dulwich college'....this area boasts good access to London's West End for Art Galleries or even the local Dulwich Picture gallery. And Hogarth is reported to have done some artwork locally. then you can get a bargain chicken bucket from AK chicken and bring it into the BetFred next door'' Edited by PalazioVecchio (23 Mar 2022 10.20am)

My favourite song title pun from Carter USM was '24 Hours From Tulse Hill'. Doesn't get much better than that.

Whilst I completely agree that this kind of nonsense detracts from the many worthwhile efforts to improve diversity and inclusion, if you really "don't give a f**k" why bother about it? Those who do it want a reaction, so don't give them one, and this type of thing will just fade away again. There are bigger problems in the world to worry about.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The thread was started because I believed people would be interested. Tulse Hill was part of my childhood and I remember running the gauntlet of pupils from TH Comprehensive (Ken Livingtone when there, ooh bit of politics) whilst walking home from school. On reflection this should have been started in General Talk, so I apologise WE for straying into your very important News and Politics room.

I think that's my point in reality. You do get the feeling that there are those out there trying to martyr themselves as they receive no attention for anything of merit otherwise in their lives. I have long stated that genuine issues surrounding the likes of Diversity and Inclusion need sincere addressing and not this type of petty, self-gratifying 'virtue signalling' which quite frankly, in my opinion, drag down and tarnish any worthy movement even loosely affiliated to it. I do also like moaning and poking fun at things Wisbech however, I'm sure my subtlety has often gone under the radar on here, but please don't try to take my joie de vivre from me!
