Both of these countries will never change Murder and intimidation is part of there make up, Mao Zedong 1946 to 1976 and Joseph Stalin 1922 to 1953 killed 130 million between them, it is ingrained in there make up, and always will be.

I think we need to challenge the Russians,their army is not up to much.Their weapons have never been manufactured to a high grade.China should be sanctioned until they democratize.All that is needed for evil to prosper is for good people to do nothing.

So your thinking is that nuclear war will happen anyway so best head off to ensure it happens? Isn't that like saying that because we are eventually going to die anyway that there's not point delaying it? We have the Nato agreements for a reason.....everyone's behaviour needs to be predictable in a situation where the wrong move literally sees the horrible deaths of god knows how many millions....highly likely to be us included.

I would agree that everyone's behaviour needs to be predictable in a situation where the wrong move literally sees the horrible deaths of god knows how many millions; however there may be signs that Putin is not totally predictable at the moment. In certain respects there are reasons for not pushing too hard as he may have nothing to lose.

I have a sneaky feeling that we will not come to an agreement.The BBC have stated that there is an age limit, I didn't make that up out of the blue.I really cannot lead my life bothering about a nuclear war,it is out of my control.By nature I will always oppose wrong doing whatever the threat.

Foreign nationals, especially those with experience in the military, can also consider going as far as to join the Armed Forces or Ukraine’s National Guard as active service members. This is legal under Ukrainian law, which enables the military to sign official service contracts with foreign nationals or stateless persons. According to the law, this option is open to physically and mentally fit foreigners with no criminal record, between 18 and 40 years of age, who can apply for positions of enlisted soldiers or non-commissioned soldiers. Under certain exemptions, the age limit can be extended to 60. Similar to Ukrainian recruits, foreigners would have to undergo basic training for up to three months and will be paid equally with their Ukrainian mates. The first contract can be signed for three years. Some foreign nationals, though not many, coming from the U.K., Belarus, Azerbaijan, Sweden, and other countries, have served with various Ukrainian military formations, including in the war zone of Donbas. Foreign veterans of Ukrainian military formations are entitled to apply for Ukrainian citizenship under a simplified procedure. To try and join the Ukrainian military, one also needs to approach a local military recruitment office in Ukraine for further instructions.

It's a bit of a catch 22, because if we back off due to a leader making nuclear threats, it will without a doubt be the template going forward. The idea that he'd suddenly start playing nice when it comes to neighbouring NATO countries becomes unrealistic (because if he nukes at any time, now or in future, and regardless of pacts between nations, the outcome is exactly the same). As such there is really no choice but to arm Ukraine, impose significant sanctions and use the impact of those on Russia as bargaining tools if Putin eventually realises that he's bitten off more than he can chew with this invasion.
