Nice to see him given the armband (a little surprising seeing that Wilf has had it a couple of times recently).

I suspect with Luka's days limited it might not be long before he is given it on a permanent basis.

Really hope he gets it on a permanent basis. Easily doubled his transfer value this season. If we put together a strong end to the season then I can see him making the WC squad as well.

Surprised to see him run out as the captain, but well deserved in spite of his young age and short stay at the club. Guehi certainly commands respect from his teammates so for me - let him keep the armband.

Seems a very calm and assured person. And has experience as a captain before, could be our club captain for years to come.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

I am not bothered who the Captain is, leaders lead with or without the armband, most teams have more than one leader.

Other countries don't make a big deal out of it in Italy it is normally the oldest player on the pitch.

I agree, rather symbolic. You don't really have a say in tactics, unlike cricket where the captain places fielders, who get to bowl and when etc.

Could be in preparation for Luka’s departure in the summer?
He is one player who needs to move on to get first team football.

It’s a different emphasis. It needs a captain who will get in the refs ear to “help” with decisions, to point out that (as on Saturday) they have just hacked Olise down for the third time in a few minutes, and to intercede and calm matters (Wilf) down when he is reacting to his treatment. We haven’t had that since Jedi, and, although not skipper, Cabaye. They are too placid and get walked over on occasion.

Or maybe as Luka wasn’t playing, I have never seen the captain’s armband worn by someone on the bench.

You don't think PV is testing the waters with other players to see who can rise to the occasion???

For my mind McArthur is the obvious captain. Age and experience for one, but more importantly he is the most vocal player in the squad. Finally he has that grit and fight you want from a leader.
