Just read that PV has asked Wilf to be more consistent. I am wondering if it’s time to get him off the wage bill. He didn’t have a great AFCON and was his petulant self at times. He wasn’t first choice in at best an average Ivory Coast team and we seem to have moved on from being totally reliant on him anymore. I want to see the old Wilf more than anyone but wonder if he’s realised that the world no longer revolves around him. It appears he’s missed the big move he desired so much and how much of that is due to attitude rather than his ability. I would love to be proved wrong and he feeds me a sh:urger to choke on but I think we should consider letting him go now. Our younger players should be loving playing with him and not getting the death stare. JMO

Never thought it would strike my mind, but tends to agree. Unless he changes his attitude big time and (again) becomes our star man!

We can only let him go when his contract expires in the summer of 2023. For him to leave before then requires someone to come in for him. Given his current wages with us, I don't see that happening, because he isn't currently worth what we're paying him (I know PL wages are4 ludicrous but I'm speaking in relative terms).

It will be interesting to see how he reacts when he finds himself on the bench, which he will surely do if he doesn't start performing more consistently. He should know that there is genuine competition for the position he customary plays with both Edouard and Eze able to do a decent job in that position.

In all honesty, who would want him? Incredibly inconsistent, has a couple of amazing games, then drifts away, always moaning to the ref about something….not exactly the ‘team player’ managers are looking for.

His salary also puts him out of the reach of most clubs…

He has been an incredible player for palace - but we now have better players that bring more to the game than him! (Wow- never ever thought I would say that!)

Maybe Newcastle want to spunk some dosh on him before the summer of 23 , id take 40mill for him 10 to United and buy a couple of good young eager players willing to make a move up .

It's a nice thought but I think we'd struggle to take £14 million for him as he is now.

Seems it will be a sad ending to his career but he only has himself to blame really.

Will surely be the figurehead of our recent longevity in the PL and an all time Palace great, though I can't help but thinking I'll catch a newspaper or something in around 20 years time and read a sad story about his state of affairs as he's snapped coming out of poundland or somewhere.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The only thing he can do is answer on the pitch, we owe him that.

I think he must understand now any more nonsense and out.

I believe the days when we were able to command a transfer fee for him are long gone. Someone might fancy taking him on a free once his contract runs out but it won’t be any of the top clubs. I wonder if the hierarchy regret not selling him to Arsenal when they had the chance a couple of seasons ago. I can’t help thinking we made a major mistake there.

we might be able to flog him to someone like Newcastle but not if they get relegated. Who else? Maybe an Italian or Spanish team outside of the top-2?

No one will touch him on the wages he is on, he will see out the last 18 months (10m) and then leave for free or negotiate a contract on about the third he is on. if we wanted a big fee we have missed the boat

Agree with most of the comments.

Not sure he is in our best 11 currently

Not sure anyone else would want him, and his salary would price out most teams anyway

Wilf its over to you mate, you are a world beater when on form. Find a way of getting it back

For me Wilf is still our talisman.

If we do sell him we have to give Man United 25% of the fee so, despite his wages, hope we keep him in the summer.

He is still a brilliant player and considering the brutal treatment he often gets its a wonder he isn't injured more often.

Because of this his petulance gets him into trouble, but I am hoping he will calm down, despite the extreme provocation and, with increasing competition from the likes of Olise and Eze, I am sure that will spur him on to greater things. I am sure he won't take kindly to being on the bench.
