Stephen Fry was right when he said 'he straddled all the comedy genres'. And he did: political satire, family entertainment, stand up, topical sketches, you name it. A giant of comedy writing. RIP

Love it that his son said he was telling a nurse an Archbishop of Canterbury joke before he died. What a lovely way to bow out. I'll always remember his definition of the difference between North and South London. "In North London you're walking along the road and you see one of those blue plaques on the wall saying so-and-so lived here. In South London you see a yellow sign saying Can you Help?"
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
