So how many stair ways should it have. Are you an architect or a safety officer?
Stay put works if the building has fire rated risers, stairwells, front doors and non flammable walls. If all the entrances are x distance from said corrrct size stairs and said stairs have the correct smoke ventilation systems along with sprinklers, intumescent protected doors and refuge points it works. New buildings cannot all be assumed as a wrong design due to grenfell. Moving on would be a better way forwards.

Move on after a thorough investigation in to the CON servative council who gave the go ahead for flammable cladding to kill 78 people and save £6000, and jail time, then move on!

Developer Ballymore withdrew the application following a last-minute intervention by the London Fire Brigade.

"We do have concerns that the design submitted does not provide suitable and convenient means of escape and associated evacuation strategy for all building users," the fire service said in a statement on its website published yesterday.

"In buildings with a single escape route, we would expect the developer to have their own fire engineers provide a full review to show the resilience in the event of a fire and this does not appear to have been carried out."

Personally I don't care how rigorous or successful a system is thought to be. If I only have a single route of escape I'm not happy about it.

Logic tells you that living high in a Tower makes escape hard...well impossible, if stuff goes to sh1t.

I was thinking the other day if flying drone systems could be used in fire work.....probably be a lot more useful at attacking height fires externally. No doubt it's already been considered.

I have a spare parachute rig should you need it.

I've often thought why didn't the WTC towers have them as a fall back...if you forgive the pun.....you'd think with all that money there would have been a plan C or D.

No doubt plenty just sat tight regarding it as the best option.

Then again, you have to be high enough and be able to jump clear enough...and hope the wind doesn't push you back towards the building.

Thankfully I've never lived in one of those things.

Cable lines to lower height buildings probably makes sense....though some way of ensuring it couldn't be misused would be difficult.

There should be a minimum of two stair cases in each building & tenants should be made to attend mandatory fire drills twice a year to acclimatise themselves on how to escape If unfortunate enough to be in a major blaze in their building.

Asbestos would be great for that

My point wasn't about grenfell and that investigation is still ongoing. It was about buildings in general. Just sometimes it doesn't always have to be about politics and hmg!
BTW if they send some people to jail it appears everything will be OK in CP world.
