Yes very sad news indeed. No age at all these days. I remember PH or 'Doris' due to his hair fondly as he always put in a great shift whilst playing for Palace.
I believe he started as a forward and was converted to a right back.
Condolences to all his family.

Was a wholehearted player, one of the team of the 80’s. Won player of the year, scored a screamer from the half way line against Liverpool, started as a striker but converted into a right back. Nicknamed Doris because of his permed hair. I do hope that the club pay tribute to him on Sunday as they should of done when John Sewell passed recently.

Thank you CPFC2010 for keeping me interested in football, for me no Palace no football either. Come on you Eagles.

A great servant of the club! Hopefully, he meets up again with his kid that drowned at a very young age.

So sad.
I remember that wonder goal he scored against Liverpool or was it Leeds from about 30 yards into the Whitehorse.
It went right in the top corner. Fantastic.

Saw him start his career as a willing but not exceptional forward.

What a transformation to right back !

I think he won our POTY award both seasons we were in the old First Division.

RIP Paul, Doris, Fish - taken too soon.

This is a very sad day, what a terrific defender he was for Palace. Made defending look easy and totally recognisable on the pitch with his hair. Remember seeing him at the Leafe my local club, only 65 what a great loss to his family and all that knew him.

Gutted!
