After posting that arrogant photo with all his kit ready to fly to Australia, I was amused to read that the Aussies refused to let him into the country.

Why should they make an exception for him? His family claim he's being kept prisoner and expect us all to feel sorry for him.

I must say I like the no-nonsense way Australia deals with this kind of situation.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Yes totally agree, if he gets to play what reception will he get.
He should go home and get jabbed and avoid future issues at future tournaments.
Smacks of arrogance.

If you look at his highly disciplined diet, more so than his rivals, it’s probably more to do with that. I doubt Novak stands in many queues or mixes with many people he doesn’t know and the tests he would’ve done just before flying would make him safer than others who have boarded planes. You could say there shouldn’t be special treatment for anyone (even British politicians in our case, although that’ll always happen), but the Australian government and however many of the public lost their minds on this ages ago. Beating people on the street and arresting people at home for whatever.

Djokovic is certainly an independent thinker.

He says his career was "defined" by the day a doctor pressed a slice of white bread into his stomach to diagnose him as gluten intolerant.
He believes in telepathy and telekinesis.
He opposes surgery and cried for three days in 2018 because he had "failed himself" by having elbow surgery instead of healing himself with natural medicine. He split with coach Andre Agassi over the issue.
He promoted the idea that positive thoughts could purify dirty water and make it drinkable.

Yet other unvaccinated sports people were let in.

Let's not forget that he received an invite....he didn't just turn up. If they don't want him there let the guy go home.

Also, Australia's hardline policies aren't only an outrage against liberties and show utter authoritarianism but Australia's infections graph show that its all pretty pointless.

He's free to go home at any time, as has been explained many times by Australian officials. He has decided to stay in order to conduct a legal appeal.

Incidentally, the rules for an Australian entering Serbia are pretty much identical to those for a Serb entering Australia, save that they can exit quarantine by producing a negative test result at the appropriate stage of their confinement. Vaccinated Australians pass straight through.

Are you confusing "independent thinker" with "screwball"?

Nothing arrogant about it. He followed the rules. Applied for an exemption like many other people and australians have and was granted it.

So I dont see what your problem is?

For me he is a symbol of hope in this s*** world be now live in where it is pretty much medical Apartheid

I wasn't aware that he was free to go, so fair enough on that point.

However, in relation to the rules between the countries I think the negative test result difference is a pretty massive difference don't you? I do personally.

While I think these restrictions are nuts I think asking for a negative test result is fair enough in certain circumstances....though it has to be said it was never routinely done for flu or in fact previously for any virus within a general context.

If people are ill or showing symptoms they shouldn't be going to work or social events and that's always been common sense.

The risks of asymptomatic spread are low and outside areas like care homes or sensitive parts of hospitals the fear mongering has been ramped up far above the reasonable.

As pointed out, it is now becoming virtuous vaxxed Vs evil non vaxxed, who are basically also equated to far right somehow. The situation is farcical in that if there were good enough testing, or the vaccine worked the way it was supposed to, then none of this could possibly matter at all.
Where is any logic in caging someone who does not have Covid because they do not wish to be vaccinated? What is being proved?
The last laugh will be having a sh1t tennis tournament because you wouldn't let the best player enter.
On the plus side, maybe Henman can win.

I don't disagree with anything you have said. I'm not in any way saying that I support the rules in Australia, but rules they be - and surely we have learned in this country that "one rule for them..." doesn't go down too well with the proletariat.
