Looks like they are going to carry out this threat. Will presumably have a very unhappy player on their hands.

He would be even more unhappy if the club said that they wouldn't be paying him whilst he was away at Afcon as would all of the other players plying their trade in England.

Watford now saying Sarr is injured and cannot go to AFCON. Is that 3 or 4 of their players who are now unavailable for that tournament. I hope the authorities insist that if this is the case they are also unavailable for any club games as well.

Sarr has been out for a few weeks to be fair. I'd be pretty unhappy if we had to send one of our best players to any tournament if they were still injured. The Dennis situation seems a bit more murky with claims Nigeria missed a deadline for calling him up. If you sign African players then you know as a club you might lose them for AFCON so you can have no real complaints. In Watford's case they perhaps shouldn't have signed so many African players if they didn't want to lose them. For us it'll be about players using the opportunity to stake a claim for a starting spot. I'm not sure Watford have that depth.

Sarr's last game was towards the end of November when he scored for Watford in their 4-1 win over Man Utd.He was substituted that day, assuming because of an injury as he hasn't played since then.

Surely AFCON has recently been played during the summer but it's only been moved to February this time due to Covid cancelling the last tournament

Yes he has been out with a knee injury which means he is only just returning to light training . Anyway we have allowed Senegal to take a look at his fitness so if they want to risk a potentially serious issue by playing a half fit Sarr it’s up to them . Just think of what we would do if he did play and got injured again . I agree the Dennis stuff looks strange but we have been claiming Nigeria didn’t add him to the squad in time and it had been said Dennis himself wasn’t keen on going just to be sub - I guess it depend who you believe! We have 3 other players going in Louza, Masina and WTE. Edited by Superhorns3 (04 Jan 2022 4.38pm)
