Morning all,

Anyone know why Eze has been on the bench for a fair few games but is getting little game time? Is he actually fit enough yet, or not and just there for morale or something? Is Ayew's form keeping him out? Olise seems to be above him in the pecking order and while I have no complaints about Olise getting on, it makes me wonder where Eze is at.

Anyone know?

Cheers

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely

I am hoping he has not Done a Dann. Never the same after doing his knee. I worry Eze is another who has lost his Mojo forever following a horrid injury.

Then again, they said New Year. Perhaps they meant New Year. What we now see is his gradual integration as part of his proper rehab to achieve that.

If so - and fingers crossed - he will be like a new signing next month.

Eze is a number ten (no not Boris's job!) according to Vieira,we don't play with a number ten as far as i've seen, his defensive game is poor and P.V. demands a defensive side to a players game.He is/will be a great player in the right team.

He's being carefully managed.

Ebs came back from injury well in advance of original thoughts that he would be out until the New Year.

We need him to be ready to step in when we lose players to AFCON, so we can't risk him pushing himself too much and then breaking down in January.

Looking at how good Hughes is looking and how long we've had to wait for him. I'd suspect Viera is just making sure he is 100% ready.

He was our best player last season and I cant wait to see him again

I was thinking this yesterday… I’m not quite sure where he fits in our formation. He’s a bit of a Rolls Royce player and we don’t really have space for that. He’s a quality player so hope we can slot him in somewhere. Selection headache for PV.

There's strong rumours that Afcon maybe cancelled due to Covid

In certain games where we have a lot of the ball I think playing Hughes as the deepest lying with CG and Eze in front can work, and it probably gets our 3 best midfielders into the team.

We'd be wide open against better opposition though.

I think it's Gallagher who makes it hard to fit Eze into the team, so potentially only a problem for this season, when Eze is building up to fitness anyway. He may come straight into CG's role as the forward-most of a midfield 3 next season.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Eze get some minutes off the left - Wilf clearly needs to know his place isn't untouchable anymore, and I think Eze is the man to push him.

Eze is a star player who Vieira will need to find a place for in the team once he's ready. If you go back and watch highlights of the games last season after he moved more central he ran the show and was our best player. Unless the injury has created long-term issues then for me it's really just a case of when he gets back into the team, not if. It may be suicide but I'd love to see a midfield trio of Gallagher, Eze and Hughes/McArthur.

If you believe the propaganda re covid if the Afcon goes ahead then it is all a complete con.

When Eze came on against Villa despite his extraordinary skill still in evidence he showed he is not yet ready for top tier matches. Nor did he slot smoothly in to the system. Patience is the key and we have good cover. Our management seem to be on top of things.

As some have already said, he's not being rushed back because of his injury but it's also because we have good options in all areas and those options are performing well.

Despite being our best player last season he has to earn his spot and at the moment I can't see who gets dropped for him. Competition for places can only be a good thing for the club.

Having said that, the Xmas fixtures come around so quickly I can see him starting a game soon.
