Don't get me wrong. He is a very talented racer. You only have to look at some of the YouTube clips of him as a 7 year old kid in karts to see that, even then, he had amazing ability.

But, there's something about about his manner that just makes him appear an arrogant, sanctimonious git. He moans at his team if things are not going well for him during a race and he moans at them when they make a correct judgement that he ignores as was the case last weekend in Turkey. If he'd followed instructions he would have been better placed. He also makes out he doesn't realise when he's about to set a new record (most wins, pole positions etc). Of course he knows exactly.

He was raised in Stevenage which he once described as a ghetto. Really? His dad worked his butt off to fund his racing, but he tries to say he had it hard. OK, he loves fashion, but what, or who's fashion? He sure wears some weird clothes, not to mention his pet dog fashion accessories. And then there's his forced American accent to emphasize his cool persona.

His attitude lets him down, which is a shame because he's a very fine driver indeed.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

So far up his own &rse he can’t tell that everyone knows he thinks everyone else is stupid when they aren’t. If he didn’t have a talent in a sport that pays fortunes for his ability nobody would give him any attention. Apply to footballers and other celebrities including actors and singers.

Agree with both these posts ^^^^^

As soon as he wins his 8th championship the better, then he can disappear & work on all his 'worthy' causes. Just my opinion mind.

To me the problem is he wants to be seen as this vegan, eco warrior, racial equality campaigner, but on the other hand he lives in a Swiss tax exile and got in trouble for trying to register his private jet in the IOM (If I remember correctly).

It just screams of him so badly wanting to be "a Marcus Rashford", but whilst MR came from a single parent life of genuine hardship and now focuses on feeding poor kids, Lewis Hamilton came from money (all be it not great wealth), has succeeded in a sport which oozes money and elitism in terms of access to participate and rather than feeding poor kids he's set up a fund to help get more black people into the world of motor racing which whilst commendable will probably help maybe 0.0001% of the population, and will not really benefit society at all.

Throw is some ridiculous clothing choices and saying that he "came from the slums" and he just seems like a wally in an ivory tower trying to be the common man with the rest of us.

I am enjoying being back at Selhurst and having a beer with my mates just like we have done for the past 40 years. Through Thick and thin we stick with our club. Not chairman, players or managers, OUR CLUB!

In summary,

Self indulgent wealthy man-child from a privileged background who is totally detached from reality.
