Looks like the Saudi consortium is closing in on Newcastle. Fans will be pleased to see the back of Ashley. Wonder what will happen to Bruce? Just hope they're still in a state of flux by the 23rd - I had us down for a comfortable win. Could go either way now. Just glad we, at the moment anyway, have solid ownership.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Strange decision by PL, as this seems no different to the one they did not approve.

Geordie fans are no strangers to torture, just watching them play is bad enough.

Well I expect if they make funds available Toon fans won't care it comes from one of the most despicable nations on the planet.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Money money money this was all about Saudi Arabia not paying TV rights apparently that has now been resolved so the PL objections evaporate. Never mind the human rights abuses the PL owners and players will now get their pockets loaded with gold. Let's see the players take the knee for that. As for the rest of us this will mean another place gone in the PL relegation battle as they will not go down with those resources. Soon it will get to he point when only a handful of clubs can realistically be relegated so the big 6 will get their way after all, a league with no relegation. As for Steve Bruce he wont be there next season expect one of the big foreign managers to come , hello Jose? Bad for football and bad for human rights. Edited by Badger11 (07 Oct 2021 2.13pm)

Football has no morals shocker.

Serve them right if this happens...... Ban on alcohol in and around the ground, no pork sausages, pork pies or scotch eggs and any supporter taking his/her/their/ shirt off gets 20 lashes on the pitch as half time entertainment.

All about the money as per. Wouldn't be happy if I was a Newcastle fan, but there's an inevitability to this kind of thing nowadays.

The main investor is the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, whose Chairman is Mohammed bin Salman. Struggle therefore to see how this is separate to the state.

It seems hard to imagine Newcastle as the next Real Madrid, but I guess when you look at Man City and PSG, it's not entirely out of the question. As far as I can tell, Arab owners enjoy splashing the cash. Them and Abramovic I guess. I always wonder, what would we do? Some dodgy guy with billions wants to waste endless money with us? It always seems a bit dirty, but secretly loads would like it. I'm not sure what I would think to be fair.
