Another 1000 immigrants made it across yesterday. Fine weather today will no doubt encourage more to risk it. Each time a new record.

The French police seem an impotent force. Are these gangs and crowds of immigrants so difficult to spot along the French coast?

What good are these people (mostly men as PalazioVecchio once said) to us and what actually happens to them? Some get deported, but the numbers are rarely published. I really fear that there are Taliban plotters amongst them primed to wreak havoc here.

I thought we were going to get tough on immigration post Brexit. Not happened yet.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Non-EU immigration into the UK has boomed exponentially since the brexit 'deal' with the UK was signed 20 months ago. Those making their way know that they won't/can't be sent back to France as now the UK isn't part of the EU and any laws that used to facilitate that as an EU member don't apply as a 3rd country, hence the exponential increase since January 2020. The Channel has effectively become a one way non-return valve.

So how many got sent back to France before the deal?

The obvious answer is to send these people back to their point of origin.
Until we truly grasp the unending nature of modern migration, we will continue with this self destructive and unsustainable policy of allowing them to settle here.

I'm sure the French are making every effort to keep these guys in France. I'm sure they're as needed and welcome there as they are in the UK. Who is France's second largest political party again? Oh.

the general drift of all these disconnected men is North-West....from Syria, Africa, Afghanistan.

so, the UK should just copy the French. Create a Calais Jungle-camp at Fishguard/Holyhead/Stranraer and ship the men all across to Ireland.

Irish Governments will be delighted to shovel money at the problem. Again.

All the middle-aged feminists in Sinn Féin think its a wonderful development. Boatloads of single young men with a good body-mass index.

anyway, these refugee-men are more likely to speak English than French. France is already full of men.

This is true! And the answer is, it"s great business to "miss" the hundreds/thousand slipping through the net, and make no mistake, we would do exactly the same if we were in their position. Hold on to thousands of poor people who need accomodation and food -at least until they can get a job if they want to, or let them slip off in to the night towards one of your least popular neighbours? If any country was rewarded with mega $$$$$$$$$ for keeping asylum seekers, they wouldn"t let any escape- but until that day comes, it"s "bon voyage" asylum seeker , have a good life in gb, and tres bien for the beret wearers!

These people are one off the reason taxes will rise, as they will live on income supplied by the government.

Does anyone know where I can buy shares in rubber Dinghies and life jackets, it seems to be a booming business. We could set up a big fans at Dover to blow them back and to stop them landing.

You think Sinn Fein are pro immigration? I presume you have spoken to their usual voters. There may be woke nationalism touted at senior level - but not at grass roots, where it is still in the 'troubles'.

here is Sinn Fein's solution to the Ulster Troubles....

A bit of solidarity with their Catholic/Atheist French comrades. Refugees Welcome here , LGBT , Abortion a go go.

SF learned the policy from Blair/Brown....import a ton of voters to win the next election.

They always supported Palestine too. It's kind of a perpetual down trodden protest thing. However, if Derry had a massive influx of immigrants, particularly any of people of BAME backgrounds, there would not be long before troubles. Particularly if there was any (unauthorised) dealing or gangs involved. Although I'm sure the legitimate business people would just have to pay the average friendship rate to keep trouble away.
