I always thought that Bruce Dyer was the first £1 million pound teenager but in this report it calls Clive Allen the first £1 million pound teenager. On Clive Allens Wiki page it says "Allen signed for Arsenal in the summer of 1980 for a fee of £1.25m" which would have made him 19. On Bruce Dyers Wiki page it says "His career started in 1993 with Watford, before he became the country's first £1 million-teenager when he joined Crystal Palace in 1994". So who was it Bruce or Clive ? Attachment: Clive allen.jpg (46.72Kb)

Allen was part of the Sansom to Arsenal deal, so i think that muddys the water
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Allen was transferred in summer 1980 and was born May 1961 so on the cusp of 20 whereas Dyer was born April 1975 and was transferred in 1994. IF you believe wikipedia then Allen was just over that age so Bruce is the first teenager.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

I have no idea but am going to give it to Bruce, simply for allen running the length of the pitch to celebrate his goal against us in the fa cup quarter final at Loftus road, although he didn"t hang around when a couple of hundred came over the hoardings and invaded the full length of the pitch.

I was at that. And I haven't forgiven either.

As we’re talking Clive Allen, regardless of how we rated or hated him, he was involved in two massive stand out memories for me. I was in that corner for the goal that wasn’t at Coventry and behind the goal at QPR for that cup game.

I was at that. And I haven't forgiven either. Ha, yes, so was I. Actually got kicked out after 1 min of arriving , before seeing the pitch, my mate - for a laugh- pushed me right in to a group of 5 or 6 policemen, knocking one flying, he didn"t see the funny side and chucked me out. The game started, and i bumped in to QPR"s banned mob, about 12-15, including their main man Gregor, with his gold tooth at the front. They chased me around the ground, down an alley, where their were about 10 local yoof sitting down having a spliff. Gregor shouting for them to stop me , the alley was longer than a football pitch. Lucky for me, they didn"t and let me run through. Instead of heading home with my life , i proceeded like a magnet to worm my way back around the ground, ended up at the side bit with an old fella with a white military hat thing, full uniform- for private box members. He let me in for nothing, bless him, and I ended up in the QPR end, in the corner seats, trying to not get noticed. Had a bit of a fall out when they scored, got a bit excited when "we" invaded the pitch with a well known palace bruiser in a sheepskin, he was running up and down the corrugated iron overboard, egging the palace on. Went outside after and joined the masses, took a clump on the temple from a qpr bruiser which nearly killed me again-only to turn and see my fellow palace kicking the life out of him, happy days! (the madness of youth).
