I do find it amusing that all the gobby culture war warriors who were frothing at the mouth that Hubbard was going to win the event easily and destroy all sports as we know it have been proven totally wrong. Aside from that it was great to see Emily Campbell win GBs first medal in weightlifting since 1984!!

Brilliant performance by Campbell. Chinese winner way ahead of the field. Hubbard was useless and whole thing seems to have been a publicity stunt. Hubbard official result DNF ( definitely not female )
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Typical left claiming some moral victory on behalf of a bloke not winning the women's weight lifting. When degeneracy occasionally fails apparently it's meant to prove something. Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Aug 2021 3.23pm)

From a fairness point of view, it makes little sense that she was in the competition to begin with. It will be interesting to see what updated rules are in place by the next Olympics. It's an area where I think common sense will eventually prevail, due to a combo on upending results, and safety too. Fair play for having the bravery to be true to your self and all that, but there are still realities that are inescapable and impact others (biological men should not be fighting women and so on).

Hubbard dropped a massive 80ll0ck there. I've had worse than some of the female lifters, but they look the sort of women who would drink you to unconsciousness, carry you back to their lair, and devour you like a late-night kebab
I disengage, I turn the page. |

I see that the BBC website is describing Hubbard as "the third oldest lifter in Olympic history".

Indeedy! I"m glad she"s out, on a different subject wasn"t it great to see that gb girl yesterday winning the BMX cycle event with those tricks, bit off egg on the faces of the boc for ploughing all the money in to elite sports, oh well, they will be chucking money at bmx next time!
