From the Telegraph:

Exclusive: Crystal Palace eye Lyon centre-back Joachim Andersen after impressive Fulham loan.

I’d be impressed if we get him in. With Marc.G being so young, Andersen has a good mix of youth and experience.

I wrote on here over a month ago- if we sign Andersen and Pereira it would be a superb window. I haven't changed my mind.

Clickbait still it's nice to know that West Ham fans are moaning that we have already signed 2 player they wanted and hopefully Andersen will make it a hat trick.

That might be the case as, as much as he would be an asset I’m seriously wondering where all this money needed to replace the experience already out of the door is coming from.

The rumours that we have up to £80m to spend this window may not be far off. We've paid down the debts for previous purchases and it depends how the new deals we make are structured. It's unlikely to be a case of all the money up front.

As for Andersen, he'd take up a good chunk of what we have, possibly £25m plus. Not sure Lyon would go for a loan with buy option.

PV has said that he wants his teams to build from a strong defensive base and we certainly need another good CB. Andersen plus Tomkins and Guehi gives him that base and the option to play 3 at the back when he wants to use that formation, which he said on the Q & A video that he will be getting the squad to practice in pre-season.

Having said all that are Kabak and Nelsson still options?

I heard the budget was closer to 50m. But even so we’ve only spent half the supposed budget. I don’t know how Andersen can be going for as much as 25m. He isn’t wanted by his parent club and did OK last year but he didn’t keep Fulham up…it’s not like he stood out as world class. Parish said the market is depressed and that we would be taking advantage of that so we should be expecting lower fees than originally expected…not higher.

All depends on who we are competing with doesn’t it.

The club never makes pronouncements about such budgets.
Just rampant speculation from various sources which many take as a pinch of salt.

Whatever the actual figure available,.it will need some very affordable well structured deals, simply because we have up to now allowed eight players, six of which played a part in recent seasons, another on loan, the other to sick to play, to leave the squad. On top of that , we have two what appear to be long term injuries ,to what should be considered important players.
We know only two well how difficult it has been to keep going at times with the squad numbers we had. So with only two meaningful additions, it would seem we have a few deals yet to do. That has to get harder all the time if we are going into the £20 mill plus league.
Andersen, is decent but if that fee is true can’t see it unless it’s spread pretty thin.

I totally understand your sentiments.
I envisage some loan deals.

We're being strongly linked with Ozan Kabak too. I can't see us signing both especially as we signed Guehi. I would prefer Andersen i think.
