Daily Mail via CBS Sports. We are being linked with Arsenal because of the PV connection, from the Daily Mail, not the Atlantic so, wait and see.

Anyone know what position(s) he predominantly played when on loan at hoffenheim ? Seems a bit of a dribbler but with limited end product by way of assists/key passes Definitely one to get in depending on price and harness his potential as he has ability

He's purportedly a winger/wide player.

I would rather have Nelson than Lookman. Loan with option to buy at sensible price, Lookman is on 45k at Leipzig, Nelson on 15k at Arsenal
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

However, I was under the impression that Arsenal might be wanting to sell Nelson to raise funds. As for Lookman, I understand our interest has cooled after less than impressive discussions with him.

According to click bait we are looking to fill the other loan spot with a winger as we want to keep our money for a striker. That makes sense but this may rumble on for now as the clubs involved are either wanting to sale or using their player in part exchange deal which never seems to happen anyway. As for the striker I think we do need one more than a winger.

Parish has always made a big deal (rightly so; it's an approach that's worked) about signing high character players, not just good ones. Delaney, Jedinak, Ward, Dann, many others all fit that bill. I'd argue it's one reason a sometimes overmatched squad has stayed up over the past nine years-having a tight, ego-free group that rely on each other. However, as talented as Lookman is (and there is a player in there), his attitude seems to be pretty poor. He's failed to meet expectations, seemingly, in large part because he's a low character individual not least defined by an inflated opinion of himself. Worth speaking to see if he's learned his lesson. The fact that he's been interviewed and we're no longer pursuing him suggests that he hasn't. Doesn't appear to be a Palace (-type) player at all. If we're seriously pursuing a striker, I have to think Mateta is heading back to Germany because if Vieira fancied him, Benteke, Ayew, and Mateta would likely be enough depth (although I stress "enough" rather than an embarrassment of riches.). For my money we need a "fox-in-the-box" type; nimble, quick, nose for goal. What you used to call an inside forward. We've got a number 9 (Benteke) and we've got a subs bench workhorse who can play a valuable role working both ways (forward and back) but isn't a born goalscorer (Ayew). What we need to find is the Dwight Gayle/Kevin Phillips/AJ type, someone who might not do much but goal-hang but will get in the right positions and put away the rebounds and simple chances. Of course, those players are not easy to find but that's what we need.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |
