So they fall back on the “ natural habitat “ excuse. Happy for the friends of parks to pick up the bill for planting! Thought my council were bad but….

remember having a 'parky' on sight, usually had his own hut & was a strict old bugger.
the park loos were pretty clean, as were the parks well presented, water fountains, some had a kiosk for drinks/lollies.
my local park as a kid was Bingham (bingham rd, addiscombe)
one side of the tennis courts had decorative planters, often depicting a flag or crown etc.
stream at the bottom, by the neighbouring club & generally immaculate.
would spend the day there in the summer.
I last went through it about 4 years ago, on a long walk detour.
was pleased to exit it, scruffy & groups of yoot hanging about.

I don’t think you’re keeping up

Along with many others we are now letting our back lawn revert to grass and wild flowers. Parks and verges should be the same.

It’s time we all did our bit. Also, longer grass is more prone to getting trodden in and sequestered as carbon. I hope at least you stuck to no mow May.

Who doesn’t?

Verges aren’t football pitches. Croydon’s parks have areas that are cut for games. Lloyd park has done that all over the place, including for disc golf. But the bigger parks have loads of room for meadows too.

People just love to moan without considering more broadly.
