I thought he had a really good solid game today. Yes he was beaten twice but I don't think either could be attributed to GK mistakes. Good keeper - glad to see him put in a performance which should help his confidence no end!
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

Thought it was a good idea to play him

I agree and it would be nice to see a couple of the young lads get a debut in the last couple of games.

Yes i thought he was good today , alot more comfortable from corners i think and a good replacement if Vincente gets injured or leaves . didnt do his confidence any harm at all.

It will be interesting to see who gets the jersey against Liverpool. VG has been fantastic for us and doesn't deserve to be dropped but has turned 35. Butland is 28 and at an age where we need to find out whether he's a potential replacement or the cheque book comes out. Not bothered about the mistake against Millwall.

Agreed, I’d be leaving Butland between the sticks and giving him a run of games. I was mightily impressed with him yesterday, maybe one question mark over the disallowed Maupay goal but prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

I am a big fan of VG but I think Jack has earned his chance. The mistake against Millwall could have proved a disaster for his confidence but fair play to the lad he has had a really good game against Brighton. Lovely to see him growing back into the GK he was a few years back.

I thought he was very honest in the interview after the game and must have been gutted.

Came across very well in the interview I thought. Just checked, he is 28 so, even if he doesn't replace Guiata this season, time is on his side. He was a very good goalkeeper until he lost confidence, looks like he is getting that back. Mature enough to put the Millwall howler behind him.

We're lucky to have two really solid and reliable (touch wood) 'keepers.

Still not sure that he was strong enough on the disallowed goal yesterday. Thought he may have not had it fully in he’s hands and was dropping it onto the Brighton player? Any others think the same or am I doing him an injustice?

Butland has a big opportunity to claim the number one spot. Whilst Guaita is a fantastic shot stopper, he doesnt really command his area and is weak under crosses.
