Vienna by Ultravox. Was driving to work across Mitcham Common and just had to stop the car and listen. Was so different. Went out and bought the album and discovered everything else they did was cr*p!!!

Also agree with kayjaybee. The Yes album was (and still is) something special.

I remember it went to number two in the charts, kept from number one by Rod Stewart's 'Baby Jane', which was a good song but not a classic like 'Vienna'.

It spent four consecutive weeks at number two in the UK Singles Chart without ever getting to number one;[7] it was kept off the number one spot by John Lennon's "Woman" for a week,[8] and then by Joe Dolce's "Shaddap You Face", for a further three weeks.[9][10][11] "Vienna" is ranked as the fifth-best-selling UK single for 1981.[12][13] The single was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry in February 1981,[1] for UK sales exceeding 500,000 copies. It also won "Single of the Year" at the 1981 Brit Awards Yes, i got that info from Wiki then copied n pasted it Edited by eagleman13 (13 May 2021 5.06pm)
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
