None of us are not aware of what is playing out at the moment in the Middle East and I am sure we could rehash out all the old arguements.

What interests me is a theory/notion that has been percolating in my old crust for a while now.

Now I have to own up to a slightly schizophrenic view of the conflict in that I have a lot of sympathy for the plight of the people in Gaza because it is a shocking state of affairs and descriptions of it as the worlds largest open-air prison camp are difficult to repute given how it is hemmed in and controlled by outside forces.

But I also have emotional ties to Israel via a combination of family and friends living over there, and currently having to spend time in bomb-shelters. So my heart breaks for them as well.

However, what interests me most is the potential, and I make no apologies for my Western chauvinism, fall out on us in the West.

I suspect that within a relatively short period of time voices will emerge suggesting, on humanitarian grounds allied with a supposedly anti-Israel bias dismissing them as people who cannot be reasoned with, that Europe (and probably within the confines of the EU) facilitate a mass population transfer of any Palestinian who wants to come and make a new life in the West. Essentially depopulate the region.

And the clamour will grow and grow for this to happen with the fertile soil for this having been prepared for the last few decades, not all of which have proved successful, with perhaps it having to happen now before the growing backlash from native Europeans about immigration explodes.

Now I accept that this idea perhaps elevates me into the realms of the tin-foil hat wearing brigade and I more than willing to accept any and all the s*** that might come my way but when I look at events, ever since the removal of Gaddafi, I have sensed that there is something going on that is being all orchestrated.

Matov I also have a funny feeling something is going on, no proof just a feeling.

Firstly I don't follow Israeli domestic politics so I maybe completely wrong.

Last month Netanyahu failed to form a coalition government so the President asked the opposition parties if they could.

Netanyahu portrays himself as the strong man and just when it looks like he is on his way out surprise surprise it all kicks off.

I don't know if this coincidence or conspiracy but keep on eye on whether he can now form a government with some of the other parties.

I have not seen my theory in any media so maybe I am completely off base, just a nagging thought that this plays into his hands.

Any criticism of Israel seems to be very meek, perhaps because the media....Mmmm...maybe I won't say that.

Yet if you want to criticise Iran for example (and god knows there's lots to criticise) you can get the boxing gloves out and no one bats an eyelid.

Until relatively recently I would have dismissed that as a bit 'tin hat', but not so much now.

People were seemingly shocked when the ESL was suddenly announced.....they just didn't seem to think that these money men in different clubs weren't talking to each other and conspiring.

Similarly it would be innocently minded to think that those with huge levels of power and money aren't also conspiring and directing as much influence as possible.

It's been admitted to even within their own circles.....famously or perhaps infamously by Bill Clinton's mentor Carroll Quigley in his book 'Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time'.

Though nowadays that stuff is kept far from view.

There won't be much criticism of Israel as many countries have been brown nosing the US for financial and economic reasons for decades. Israel wouldn't exist as a threat to anyone without US funding that runs into $billions every year and most of that is military spending.

The Palestinians won't be coming over to Europe, they get so much foreign aid that they're all rich where they are. If there were loads of poor ones then that would be all over the tele like those charity ads. Plus staying where they are, they are a problem to the Israelis, which is what they want to be. Both sides play the propaganda game. What's going on with the trouble at the moment is two things.
One, Netanyahu's right wing Conservative supporters are sabre rattling about Palestinians causing trouble. They want a more hard line approach. The young, radical ones have been giving Palestinians a few beatings and burning down houses, helping out illegal evictions etc.
On the Palestinian side Hamas are trying to undermine The Palestinian authority and call for the usual Jihad etc, or at least mass civil disobedience. They have started firing Iranian bought rockets at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, to demonstrate their power.
I doubt it's the end game, but we better make sure the plains of Megiddo are ready just in case.
I literally listened to a debate between the Israeli Ambassador and The Palestinian representative to Ireland yesterday. Surprisingly calm and with only limited propaganda, mainly from the ambassador, I must say. I could be wrong but this was how I interpreted it. Hamas were getting a large part of the blame: after all, they weren't there!

Some people might even go so far as to say that Israeli interests have an disproportionate level of influence on US policy.

ABBA said it best.

Israel is always harping on about the holocust (yes I know it was terrible) but now they are attempting their own "final solution"against the palastinians.

Yep, harp on about the holocaust and how terrible it was but then focus on trying to claim huge amounts of compensation which many of them don't need. It's a culture that only focuses on money and land, everything else is just a veneer.

Nobody in my family or anyone I know 'harps' on about the holocaust. Its quite the opposite in fact.

Two thirds of Europe's Jews were murdered in 4 years, that's approximately 6 million men, women and children. I'm sure if your own grandparents were killed you too would have the right to 'harp' on about this.

Shame you are in the US, would be more than happy to chat to you in person about this.

My mother in law was offered something like 10-20k compensation. She didn't bother as it wouldn't really help pay for several years in a concentration camp for her whole family. Plus two dead parents.
Nuanced view there Jezza.
